Praguers cherish this district. So much greenery and peace, even though it is located above the busy Plzeň Street, it would be hard to find a similar spot. Is that where you live?

The view of Košíře from Smíchov, Skalka

According to the land register the location belongs to Prague 5, bordering with Smíchov, Motol, Jinonice and Radlice. It is intersected by the oldest electrical tram network in the territory of modern-day Prague.

A picturesque place to live

In medieval times this quarter belonged to the Benedictine Monastery of St. George. On the steep hills the nuns grew wine and the vineyards then even bordered with several farm settlements, which formed the history of Prague 5, e.g. Cibulka or Božínka. It was purchased by a botanist nicknamed "Cacti Hunter", Alberto Vojtěch Frič, who rebuilt it into a neo-Renaissance house with greenhouses. An interesting point here is that Jaroslav Hašek also briefly stayed there.

The luxurious character of the district will win you over

The whole area spreads in the valley and partly on the hill of the mountain Vidoule. There are mostly apartment blocks, on the hill then prevail luxurious private residences. And as one of the few sites it is not burdened with massive construction of prefabricated houses. Yet lively development is still ongoing here. New development plans concern the borderline of Smíchov and Košíře, since the latter part of Prague meets all the requirements of modern living in the vicinity of the centre itself.

Košíře as the top place to live

The proximity of nature is obvious wherever you turn, the infrastructure is at the highest level, city centre at your fingertips. The district has luxurious civic amenities, offering accommodation for all age groups. From Košíře you can get really anywhere within a very short period of time.

Historical sights

A piece of the distant past is recalled by the church of St. John Nepomuk in Košíře square. Close by is the Malá Strana cemetery with the grave of Karel Jaromír Erben. It is also worth mentioning that there is the dwelling house of Vrchlický, in the centre of this location, almost directly at the stations of the Klamovka tram.

The luxurious natural park of Košíře-Motol

The Košíře-Motol park was declared in 1991 as an area of peace and in 1992 it was added to the newly-established category of natural parks. The park contributes to the improvement of quality of the city environment. It offers regeneration to those burdened by everyday stress, peace to those who miss tranquillity and silence. Walking trails invite you for a stroll offering beautiful views.

What is to be added? Visit Košíře and enjoy yourself same as Hřebejk did, when shooting the film Pelíšy (Cosy Dens).
