American designer and mother of three born in Manhattan, Ulla Johnson, founded a brand of the same name shortly after university graduation in 1998. With her unique models, she immediately caught the attention of not only the fashion press, but also celebrities. Her blooming romantic boo style is worn by the biggest Hollywood stars! The energetic American has proven combining a stellar career and family does not have to be just a dream, but can become a happy reality.
Luxurious glasses created in collaboration with Garrett Leight were worn by Jennifer Lawrence, for example. Alicia Vikander was dressed in a boho Lurex Shibori silk dress from the new AW 2018 collection. Ethereal Gwyneth Paltrow also chose a piece from the same collection and wore the unique denim piece Wes Blous. No less charming designs were also worn by Drew Barrymore, Kate Bosworth, Claudia Schiffer, Katie Holmes, Hillary Duff, Julia Roberts, Mandy Moore, Kate Bosworth, Leighton Meester or Michelle Williams.
The designs of the likeable designer are characterized by luxurious processing, gentle and highly precise dressmaking, intricate embroidery, frills and distinctive applications. At first glance, a romantic bohemian style dominates the collection.
The relaxed and casual Boho style is decorated with distinctive cuts and luxurious materials. Silk, tulle and chiffon complement the classic wool or denim that Ulla Johnson handles in her own style. If she does opt for classical denim, it must at least be different in terms of design. No unified pieces that are lost in the crowd, but metal applications, ribbons or cute dots – that's denim á la Ulla Johnson.
In addition, in autumn 2013, Ulla Johnson expanded her collection with luxury footwear, crafted and handmade. As you can see, the talented designer who currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and three children definitely does not waste time!
Almost completely unknown to us and a renowned desigher of “mummy” fashion, Ulla Johnson, is already taking over the world of Hollywood. I do not think it's a coincidence that the actresses who wear her models are already endowed with maternity duties. And why wouldn't they, right? The are more than enough designers of sexy cocktail dresses and maybe that is why Ulla (not only with her name) is a bit different.
Personally, I was most interested in all sorts of dresses and loose shirts from the "BOHO" section. Loose cuts, precise stitching and an incredible sense of detail. Anne Hathaway presented a beautiful example of a nice combination of this style, Now imagine her carrying her two-year-old son Jonathan in the baby version of a Boho shirt. Too cute!
After seeing all the designs I paused at the shiny golden dress section. This section is somewhat lacking. An example of the fact that doing all sorts of styles is sometimes not a good idea. Ulla should therefore stick to designing outfits for the day, and leave those "sexy cocktail dresses" I mentioned earlier to others.
