The Italian Fendi fashion house was founded almost a hundred years ago as a house of accessories - umbrellas, luggage and suitcases and it is precisely this concept that the brand goes back to in men's luxury FW 2018 collection, intended for entrepreneurs on business trips. The collection represents a return to Fendi roots, but at the same time a new step into the world of streetwear.
The FW 2018 collection consists of stylish and practical clothing for comfortable travelling. It also features sportier sweatshirts, tops and pullovers, relaxed suits and trousers or trendy overcoats and jackets, which not only look good but above all will keep you warm. This is because the majority of them is made of luxurious fur. As regards accessories, there were many travel bags or suitcases to be seen and the catwalk was thus transformed into an airport terminal.
It seems that the luxury collection is in the spirit of comfort. The Fendi fashion house asked itself a question why to carry an umbrella in your hand when you can simply put it on your head? And so it was done. I am not sure whether you will meet anyone with this practical piece in the street, but one thing is certain - even in a sudden downpour you will keep both hands free. And truth to tell, sometimes even two hands are not enough.
If someone comes out wearing a Fendi FW 2018 piece, you can be sure to identify it straight away. The Fendi logo often appears in the collection and thus decorates the luxury bags, trunks, but also for example the fur jackets.
I do not know why that should be, but I am looking at the new FENDI men's collection as if it were intended for women. Hold on a minute, I think I got it. It is those fur coats (a guy wearing a full length fut coat outside the Nordic countries?!)! In the Czech Republic the greatest promoter of FENDI is the wife of Andrej Babiš, Monika. So I have immediately imagined her in those new coats and furs, whose logos just shout ´look at me, I am from FENDI!!!´. Surprisingly, I can also imagine the umbrella on her blond head; it would mean less duties for her personal bodyguard.
I give my approval to the grey suit without the umbrella on the head, suitcases too. The rest seems to me to be too feminine. As if it lacked a healthy dose of testosterone. And what seems to me to be the absolute worst item of all is a checked coat, which calls to my mind a type of pattern on slippers for pensioners from the former East Germany. With the yellow stocking cap as if for a leprosy sufferer I feel almost sorry for the model. This collection will call to those who want to have a visible inscription ´FENDI´ even on their underpants.
The suitcases, bags and back-packs are super. The rest is up to your discretion!
