Who would not know the good old Converse shoes. Most of us have them in our wardrobe and would not dream of doing without this sporty, yet stylish footwear, which simply goes perfectly with everything. But if you long for a change and at the same time want to remain faithful to the unique style, then the right brand for your is ETHLETIC - especially, if you know its story…
Trade is based on trust and appraisal. The staff from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Germany share a common objective - to produce shoes to be sold not only because they are beautiful, stylish, modern and comfortable, but because they were created under humane conditions. The production of these luxury sneakers is carried out under honest terms and the brand provides the makers not only with fair reward and good working conditions, but also bonuses for social projects.
Not only human life is important for the luxury brand of ETHLETIC. It expresses its appreciation also for animals, by creating ´vegan-style´ pieces. All models are 100% of plant origin and contain no animal products. The raw materials are moreover collected from production areas with a view to avoid jeopardising of the animal environment through excessive use.
ETHLETIC as one of the few brands understands that to squeeze nature dry is not always the best path. Therefore, organic cotton from Pakistan is used, or natural rubber from Sri Lanka without pesticides and other toxic chemicals. The brand keeps in mind not only the environment and our planet but also on the health of those who are producing and wearing the footwear.
Fair, vegan-style and sustainable? It is possible!
I am absolutely thrilled by the VEGAN production and FairTrade Converse shoes! I mean this quite seriously, finally we see here a FairTrade label which is not only on food products, but also in fashion shops. Surprise, surprise ... even such large companies see that it is possible. BRAVO!
And which Converse shoes I have absolutely fallen for this time? Definitely the model "THE LIVING DEAD - SHEHZIL MALIK”, because when you look closely, you will actually see a small artwork. A sleeping woman and a mountain of skulls around. It reminds me a bit of Mexican popular art...but why not, I like it. In addition, the price of CZK 1,750 is okay, and at the purchase I will moreover have a good feeling that this fashion piece does not come from the workshop of modern-day slaves!
As I´ve recently written...in our country there is also a brand of vegan shoes - Ahinsa Shoes. Unfortunately their shoes sewn in "hospital style" are not very chic. As we see in case of Converse, even vegan things can be stylish...so a little inspiration from the West was needed - again.
