The boutique of designer Dapper Dana in New York's Harlem was in the 80's and 90's alpha and omega of gangsters, hip-hop magnates and athletes. It provided luxury pieces full, full of leather, distinctive logos, decorated by real fur. Now, several decades later, the world can see the first collection of the upper echelon Italian house of Gucci and brilliant Dapper Dan. When two aces join forces, what may come of it? Take a look for yourself.
The collection of Gucci Dapper Dan revealed the new logo of Gucci, as captured by the lenses of talented American photographer Ari Marcopoulos. The designers applied the logo to sports leather sneakers, covered by Gucci logo from the tip of the heel, as well as slip-ons, luxury singlets, tops or sweatshirts.
The luxury collection Dapper Dan was dominated by a trio of suede, cotton and leather. It is of these three materials that most of the unique collection is made of. In addition to suede tracksuits in shades of camel beige, green or black, Dapper Dan produced stylish accessories in the form of sneakers, baseball caps, backpacks, pouches, sun glasses, head scarves or massive gold chains with the emblem of a lion or Hercules.
Whereas previously Dapper Dan´s pieces were worn by troubled Mike Tyson and his ilk, today they are worn for example by exotic beauty Salma Hayek. And how big a success will reap the luxury collection born out of cooperation with Gucci? We have been more than curious!

The velvet sweatpants, giant leather jackets, gold wherever you look and all sorts of Queens gangsters! That is the intriguing new collection of Gucci. Despite that, I thought that I would be able to find a tiny pinch of Italy... but no, there is nothing like that to be found here!
A cognac leather jacket, light jeans, brown moccasins and white socks to complete the look. No, we are really not looking at retro photos from the shooting of "Bony and Clyde" (1988). The current retro trends are in my view sad and should seriously be banned already. Because, to tell the truth, I really don´t want to look at wannabe gangsters walking the streets of the city of Prague in dark moccasins with WHITE SOCKS! It is enough to see their hard lived 'retro faces" when having coffee in Pastacaffé (hahaha).
Then, completely out of the blue here, is actress Salma Hayek in a sparkling ensemble of cherry-red colour. Unfortunately, I don´t think this is the right kind of Holywood sparkle. Because thanks to the collection of "Dapper Dan" Salma was turned into a cheap-looking concubine from Japan's red-light district, Harajuku. Simply horrid!
