The luxurious FW18 collection, with a selection of colors and materials, carries the spirit of the charming atmosphere of Christmas. It also brings older materials back to life, and the central theme becomes hand-embroidered pictures and machine-woven tapestries. The designer looked for these not only in antique shops, but unexpectedly also at flea markets!

When appearance is deceptive...
The unique collection FW18 may look childish at first glance, but the opposite is true. What at first glance looks like a dress for girls is actually a luxurious ladies shirt. Designer Mimi Lan Nguyen Hoang decided to conceive the new collection in a nontraditional manner and to look for materials in less common places.
Flee market does not equal kitsch, says the designer
The luxurious pieces found by the designer come from the places she visited - from Portugal, France, the Ukraine, but also many others. How does she look upon her own work?
"When I find a tapestry at the flea market, I do not see a kitsch or something that is no longer applicable, but I immediately recall the image of the women who embroidered it. I see beautiful handwork and the fun that is tradition. I'm delighted that I can bring these tapestries back to life through fashion." says MiMi Lan Nguyen.
La femme MiMi bets on zero waste!
The La femme MiMi brand has joined forces with the MAAT studio, and at Designblok it offered the public a glimpse of the revival of old craft and luxurious zero waste creation. Designer Mimi Lan Nguyen Hoang was also present at Designblok and personally bought the tapestries.
For a love of tapestries
And what can you expect from the new collection? Especially luxury dresses, 100% wool shirts or dresses. The FW18 is dominated by muted shades, mostly blue and grey, combined with gentle white, pink and colorful tapestries that are a passion of the creative designer.

Except for the kimono imitation, I have nothing to criticize
I heard about La Femme MiMi and designer Mimi Lan Nguyen Hoang for the first at Designblok. And I'm glad I did, because her fashion is 100% original, creative, and quite different overall. For many years, being different was not very trendy in the Czech Republic, but as I look around lately, the "new generation" is really different and does not avoid fashion novelties.
I personally like the dark blue shirt with a decorated back, dominated by hand-embroidered flowers. This rustic style was never foreign to me, and it reminded me a little of the scented landscape of Provence, France. I would pair this shirt with simple slim jeans, the ankle pumps from Christian Louboutin "French Tutu" in cognac color, and to top it off I would opt for the minimalist bag from Hermès Opli 28. In short, the perfect combination for both the busy days at work and a relaxed lunch in the family circle in the Paloma restaurant in Průhonice.
What, on the contrary, I did not like at all were the imitations of the kimono. That is totally out, in my opinion, and one would look absurd in it. So for me the kimono is a no-no.
