The American singer and multiple Grammy award winner Pink managed to stir up a lot of commotion when she promised to send 500 thousand dollars, which converts to 11 million Czech crowns, to help firefighters. She posted on her Twitter account:
"I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz,"
The singer is not the only celebrity who pledged to donate. Nicole Kidman, who was born in Australia, along with her husband Keith Urban, also donated 500 thousand dollars and They expressed their condolences on social media.
People all over the world are joining the fundraising. On Facebook you can donate any amount that is guaranteed to help with a single click. The Czech tennis player Petra Kvitová took this option too. She shared her plan on her Twitter account.
Actor Russel Crowe, who won a Golden Globe award for his performance in the movie "The Loudest Voice" did not attend yesterday's award ceremony, because he was in Australia at the time, where he's trying to protect his family residence from the devastating fires. His acceptance speech was instead delivered by actress Jennifer Aniston.

Shortly after the award ceremony, the actor published a video on his Instagram account where he gave his thanks for the award and told people about the ways he's prepared to fight the fires. He also uploaded a photo in which he's seen with the New South Wales Rural Fire Service captain who's holding an envelope containing a check for 105 thousand US dollars.
The Australian actress Cate Blanchett also took the Golden Globes as an opportunity to thank the volunteer firefighters.
"I wanted to do a special call-out to the volunteer firefighters who have been at the centre of battling the climate disaster that is facing Australia. We’re in it together, so thank you very much,"
The most affected out of the suffering species in Australia are koalas, who can't quickly hide from the approaching fire due to their slow movement. According to reports from ecologists, around 8 thousand koalas have perished already.
