Best-starring Czech actors of which we (don’t) have enough
If you’re planning to watch a Czech film, it is highly probably that you will see at least one of the said actors in it. It seems that this trio has entirely overwhelmed local directors. On the other hand, we have no issue with this “holy trinity”. We believe all three of them are excellent actors, who take on their roles very well, and the resulting film is a luxurious experience.
Aňa Geislerová
This redheaded actress garnered the most fame for her role in the film Requiem pro panenku. In our view, actress Barbora Hrzánová gave a much better and more luxurious performance in that film, but Aňa’s depiction of the role in this movie skyrocketed her among the most luxurious stars of the local film industry. The actress tried to establish herself as a model, but it didn’t work out. Geislerová’s film career, on the other hand, took off more than well. At present, not a year goes by in which Aňa doesn’t feature in a Czech film. She often portrays slightly disturbed, fragile individuals. In recent years, we saw her in feature films such as Anthropoid and Polednice.
Ondřej Sokol
He gained fame as a member of Partička, a show broadcast by FTV Prima, in which he entertained viewers with luxuriously funny sketches along with other actors. He turned out not only to be a great comedian, but also a director and moderator. We will be seeing him on television again now – hosting the contest Tvoje tvář má známý hlas (Your face has a familiar voice). He most recently acted in the film Zahradnictví: Rodinný přítel.
Tatiana Vilhelmová
Probably the second most popular actress in the Czech Republic after Aňa Geislerová. Tatiana usually plays gentle, kind women who are mistreated by fate. She has been in films such as Duše jako kaviár, Štěstí or the recent Domácí péče. Vilhelmová appears not only in front of the camera, but also performs in the theatre with considerable success. Not every contemporary film actor can manage a role on the theatre stage. We saw her during the Shakespeare Festival in the role of Catherine in the Taming of the Shrew, and she gave a luxurious performance!
