Bee fashion by Jiří Kalfař: You have to see this fashion show!
God save the Queen and we should save the Bee!
Velvet, lace, silk, gold, stardust and … bees! This could be a brief description of the luxurious fashion show put on my talented Czech designer Jiří Kalfař, who stuns the public with his original models on global catwalks year after year, almost as a rule. Incidentally, there was plenty to look at this year as well, as anybody who was his new collection called Save the Bee was surely convinced!
What does a collection like this look like? In two words: absolutely luxurious!
The new luxury collection for Spring/Summer 2018 celebrates femininity and pays its respect to the planet. As the name suggests, Kalfař sought inspiration among bees, mainly because they are important for the balance of life on earth. Although bees may seem to be ordinary creatures and most of us are rather afraid of their sting, the designer managed the unseen – to give them a seal of luxury and exceptionality! Probably every woman in the room wished to be the owner of at least one model or to become the Queen Bee and wrap herself in the honey or floral masterpieces, if only for a moment.
The gold and black on the models symbolises bees, while the floral motifs reflect fields, meadows and gardens in bloom. Jiří created the garments not only for special occasions or celebrations, but also for ordinary everyday wear, which will become extraordinary for its owners thanks to his creativity.

The collection had just one error, which is that it was shown to the world at Kiev Fashion Week, meaning that visitors to Prague Fashion Week missed the fantastic experience. But if anybody deserves applause and praise, it is the author of this collection. That the former dancer made the right decision when he left the dance scene for fashion could be confirmed for instance by his muse Alina Baikova, whom he holds in the highest esteem, and other beauties such as Karolína Kurková, Louisa Johnson or Chrissy Teigen.
