Funny Samantha, emancipated Miranda, romantic Charlotte, and cynical Carrie with a sophisticated fashion taste have accompanied since relationships became the central theme in my life. And it was Carrie’s iconic phrase that has been indelibly imprinted in my memory:
Magical Manolos, luxurious outfits, beautiful smokey make-up and a lush wavy mane are what makes Carrie Bradshaw the perfect fashion icon. But she showed in Sex in the City that she is just a woman like the rest of us who is perfectly capable of embarrassing herself in the most luxurious fashion house!
Do you remember the legendary fall at Dior in Paris she performed in the 19th episode of season 6? All it took was a slippery floor with a little rainwater and poorly selected heels for her to slide from entrance all the way to the other side of the boutique on her belly.
In order to get as close to Carrie as possible, I went to the experts – to make-up artist Lucie Hrušková Gibodová from the French Look Makeup Academy and Petra Měchurová’s hairdressing salon. But if you have the courage and skill, you can manage it yourself. Below you will find a step-by-step guide and in the video a brief manual by the professionals!
The preparations are over! I am off to the party and pass a shop window in which I can see the sophisticated pumps that are very similar to Manolo Blahnik’s. At that moment, the real Carrie awakens inside of me:
I realize that it is not enough to just look like Carrie, you simply have to be able to live like Carrie...
Carrie's characteristic make-up is nude or smokey eye shadow and a blush applied high on the cheekbones.
Step 1: Using a brush, apply make-up to clean and creamed skin that matches the shade of your complexion on the neck and chest.
Step 2: Get a tanned look using bronzer lightly applied over your temples.
Step 3: Brighten up your eyes with a toner lighter than your skin color and cover it with a loose, transparent powder.
Step 4: Choose blush in a more daring strawberry color and apply it lightly to the top of the cheekbones, almost under the eyes.
Step 5: Brush your eyebrows slightly and add only the missing eyebrows in the shape of two thirds rising and one falling.
Step 6: Apply a black eye pencil along your eyelashes and then blur it with a brush dipped in dark brown eye shadow, which will create a lovely smokey look.
Step 7: Extend the existing eye shadow using a brush with light brown to bronze shadow and blend any existing eye shadow boundaries.
Step 8: Apply a black pencil on the lower lid, and then mix it with a dark brown eye shadow brush to create beautiful smokey make-up.
Step 9: Finally, apply mascara and nude lipstick.
Now just order a Cosmopolitan...
Even though Carrie appears in some of the episodes of Sex in the City and the successful film of the same name with straightened hair, it is typical for her to have a lush, wavy mane, which you can also manage with a curler!
Step 1: Apply thermo-protective spray or cream to your hair.
Step 2: Blow dry your hair over a circular brush or bent over to create volume.
Step 3: Using a hair clip, separate the thin hair sections from the neckline horizontally to create a strip of hair from ear to ear with a height of about 2 cm. Clip the top part and divide the bottom part (strip) roughly into 4-5 strands (approx. 2 x 2 cm), which you will then curl with a thin curler.
Step 4: After the entire section is curled, separate the remaining hair in the same way. The thicker the strands, the larger and looser the curl will be. Thinner strands will be tighter and stiffer. Continue until you get to the top of the head.
Step 5: Separate the strands below the parting from each side so they are a little thicker and therefore not so stiff.
Step 6: Comb the finished waves with a brush so they loosen and do not stay in separated strands. Alternatively, backcomb some sections by pulling on your hair with a comb in the direction from the roots to the tips. You can use oil to finish the ends.
Step 7: In places where the hairstyle is too bulky, insert the strand into the curler and slowly pull from the head down.
Step 8: In the end, fix the hair with a curl definer product or hair spray.
