South Moravia hides many treasures: splendid nature, delicious wine, pleasant people, beautiful cities and many historical and architectural monuments. One of the places where it is definitely worthwhile to go on a trip, is the Lednice-Valtice complex.
It is a relatively large territory in the Břeclav Region, adjoined to Pálava. The most frequently-visited places include the municipalities of Valtice and Lednice, with their luxurious châteaux and gardens.
The Lednice château is a marvellous complex, 12 kilometres east of Mikulov. The form which you can admire nowadays was created in the middle of the 19th century. It is a style that seeks to imitate English Gothic.
Originally it was a Renaissance château from the 16th century. Beautiful is not only the construction itself and its unique interiors but also the extensive luxury grounds that surround this jewel. The park was established at the beginning of the 19th century, here you can find lakes, Moorish Minaret, John´s Castle and a hunting lodge. The best way you can view this luxury resort is from a boat which courses the local river at regular intervals.
The Baroque Valtice château is located in an eponymous town; originally it had been a Gothic castle from the 13th century. The Valtice château also boasts of a beautiful park and deserves a visit in the same way as Lednice does. Both luxurious buildings are associated with the family of Lichtenstein who had lived here for long years and thanks to whom we can admire these unique architectural treasures.
To the beautiful sights set in this conceptually-designed landscape, which is also called the Garden of Europe, also belong many smaller structures such as the 23-meter high Obelisk or the Apollo´s Temple. You can set out for a trip to the temple of Three Graces to the Colonnade on Reistna or to the Rendez-vous.
Take a bicycle in the summer and set off to discover the beauty of South Moravia. You may manage this most luxurious trip inside a prolonged weekend.
