The era of flower designs was kicked of by Giambattista Valli´s spring haute couture collection, consisting of noble gowns as well as ultra mini-skirts inspired by British gardens. The luxurious FW 18/19 collection confirmed that its interest in blooming romantic flowers is still continued.
Delicate florets, stripes, checks, letters or various other striking patterns have become central in the creation of the FW 2018/2019 collection. The motifs adorn luxurious and airy kaftan dresses, stylish minis, elegant trouser suits and coats or knitted short tops.
So that you wouldn´t be under the impression in the midst of the incredible flood of flowers that Giambattista Valli perhaps mistook the season, he also introduced autumnal and wintry elements into the luxury collection. The models thus showcased not only light jackets and overcoats for the first cool days, but also luxuriously rich fur coats for the cruellest of frosts.
After waist bags comes another hit - mini bags around the neck. We are not yet able to fully explain their function but the original idea is exciting. Fashion should be playful and with a bit of fantasy one could find practical use for this piece too… for a ring, banknotes, a talisman, only just so!
Giambattista Valli constantly creates some of the most beautiful collections around and we hope that we will continue to see his models more frequently also at prestigious events and on red carpets, as was the case during the recent Oscars. Beautiful singer, actor and model Zendaya wore a luxurious Greek gown in brown hues from the collection haute couture SS 2018 and ranked among the best dressed ladies of the evening.
Floral kingdom as presented by Giambattista Valli Haute Couture is finally something that lit up the Paris Fashion Week! Despite the fact that I am not a romantic flower enthusiast, Giambattista Valli found out how to combine tenderness and sex appeal in one perfect whole.
An absolute top is the shiny mini dress in cream colour strewn with dark blossoms. Despite the fact that it lacks any décolletage, in combination with the burgundy over-the-knee boots it is suddenly SEXY to the maximum degree! Many of my friends are afraid of larger motifs due to visual widening of the figure. But here you can easily see that it is just a myth. A late lunch in Café Savoy, Kampa Park or cocktail at Bugsy's? This simply looks good anywhere!
And one romantic item that I have left for the end: the long and absolutely simple white dress with delicately cream-coloured lamb fur, a necklace and a kind of white pouch round the neck. It looks to cozy and tender at the same time! It reminds me a bit of Hanka Zagorová´s video clip “Winter, winter, winter, winter” (1975). Somewhere for a weekend to a luxurious mountain cabin with a lit fireplace inside - what a dream!
