You will have to travel to Lapland to see this building, which boasts an unusual shape and modern architecture. This enchanting floating hotel, which pays homage to its Swedish heritage, is at home on the Lule River. The Swedish project is being directed by Arctic Bath AB and Bertil Harström and Johan Kauppi are the authors of the architecture and design.
This deluxe unique accommodation has a circular shape and provides guests with a refuge against the arctic winds. The extravagant, and shocking for some, ecological Scandinavian design of this deluxe building houses six rooms and a spa centre with wellness services. One room is designated for spa treatments. Other rooms include four saunas, outdoor cold baths, hot baths, outdoor and indoor showers and two cloakrooms and provide relief and invigorate your body.
In the summer this spa hotel will float on the surface of the water and in the winter, as soon as the river starts to freeze, the hotel will be “locked” in ice. This location has an unbelievable and unique magic and points from which you can observe the magical light shows in the heavens. And now you will also have the opportunity to observe this heavenly luxury from the comfort of the hotel!
The arctic bath is inspired by the “floating wood period”: a period during which wood was transported from the local forests along the river to processing sites.
Wood is also used inside the building. Each room has a beautifully clad wooden interior.
This deluxe floating hotel with spa will be opened this year. Will you visit it to enjoy a combination of pleasant wellness experiences along with discovery of the imposing beauty of Sweden?
