There is a vast underground water system in Yucatan, which in many places open into cenotes, which are deep cave vaults. Green: The Forests
Yucatan is not typical of Mexico. For example you will not find any arid areas there in which only cacti can grow. The peninsula is full of life and it is also immensely rich in fauna and flora. The evergreen forests are deep and in the southern part of the peninsula, which is quite a mountainous area, where they make a beautiful backdrop for the lakes, the blue and green cascades, the waterfalls, the deep canyons and, above all the impressive Mayan ruins.

The Mayans lived in this area 2,000 years before our time. Until only a fraction of the ancient cities have been uncovered, and the significance of many artifacts is still being explored. It is fascinating what they could build, and right here in Yucatan, visitors have a unique opportunity to encounter the ruins of Mayan civilisation face to face. White: Beaches
