5 famous mothers who are not indifferent to the fate of other children
Every parent knows, how difficult it is to bring up even a single child. We’d like to introduce you a number of well-known and successful women, mothers, who aren’t just taking care of their own kids, but who also founded charities and endowment funds to help other children.
Shakira, Angelina Jolie, Joanne Rowling, Tereza Maxová and Vendula Pizingerová - these women deserve great respect and commendations!
Shakira
The famous Colombian singer has two sons with Spanish football player Gérard Piquém - Milan (6) and Sasha (4). But long before they were born, back in 1997, she had decided to found the Pies Desalzos Foundation, which helps children and their families in a poor neighborhood of the Colombian town of Barranquilla. She also works for UNICEF.
Joanne Rowling
The successful British author of Harry Potter has three children: daughters Jessica Isabel (25) and Mackenzie Jean (14) and a son, David Gordon (16). Although she has quickly become a billionaire thanks to her books, she's not swimming in luxury; rather, she donates a large part of her money to the organization Lumos, which focuses on preventing the admittance of new children into institutional care, and in 2000, she founded her own foundation, The Volant Charitable Trust, in order to support Scottish charities. She also contributes to the foundation One Parent Families.
Angelina Jolie
Together with Brad Pitt, they have 6 children, 3 of whom are their own and 3 adopted. Maddox Chivan (17) is the oldest one and the actress adopted him in 2002 in Cambodia. Pax Tien (14) was adopted from a Vietnamese orphanage. Zahara Marley (13) is from Ethiopia and has struggled with salmonellosis at the beginning of her life, having nearly succumbed to it. The pair’s birth children include Shilon Nouvel (12) and the twins Vivienne Marcheline (10) and Knox Leon (10).
In addition to taking care of her family, Angelina Jolie, together with Pitt, founded the Jolie-Pitt Foundation operating in Cambodia's poorest areas. She works as a goodwill ambassador at UNHCR and organizes humanitarian missions all around the world. The British Queen Elizabeth knighted her for her efforts.
Tereza Maxová
The Czech top model can pride herself in having a beautiful family, which includes her husband Burak Oymen, their daughter Mina (9) and sons Tobias (18) and Aiden (6). In 1997 she founded the Tereza Maxová Foundation, which is associated with the Teribear project, helping abandoned children and children's homes.
Vendula Pizingerová (formerly Svobodová)
The president of the Endowment Fund Drop of Hope didn’t have it easy in life. She lost Karel Svoboda (+2007), the life of her life, and their daughter Klára (+4). She has a son, James (13), and keeps herself busy working for a foundation that helps cancer departments across the Czech Republic raise funds to buy special equipment.
These women deserve many thanks - and so do all the mothers who look after their children with loving care.
