This place was first introduced to the world together with the construction of the first hotel that is named Moana Surfrider. This took place in 1901. Today, Waikiki represents the main area in which hotels and resorts are concentrated, which goes in hand with the energy created there by locals and tourists who come from all around the world. Here you can experience world-class shopping, visit a luxury restaurant, enjoy enough fun to last until morning, and above all the long beach and crystal clear sea.
Throughout Honolulu, it would be difficult to find a better place to watch a sunset than the Magic Island. This small peninsula was built on the Ala Moana Beach Park cliff from dug corals in the 1960’s. Originally it was planned to be a new resort, but it was never built there. Instead the peninsula became a public park named Aina Moana (The Land from the Sea). Due to its impressive and magical sunsets, people actually prefer to simply call it the Magic Island.
The volcano crater Leahi or Diamond Head represents the iconic silhouette of Honolulu. It has had this name since the 19th Century, when British sailors who arrived there thought that they had found diamonds on its slopes! In the end, however, it turned out that they were only glossy crystals with a zero value. The name of the crater has remained in use, however. In 1968, the crater was declared a National Natural Monument and currently it serves as a popular tourist destination providing panoramic views of Waikiki and of the southern coast of Oahu.
You can get there easily by a short drive from Waikiki and then trail to the top does not actually involve any hard work. The stunning view from the top definitely makes it worth the slog.
