25. edition of AmfAR Gala Cannes also welcomed Czech beauties!
This social event helps to obtain funds needed for research programmes, aimed at the combating of the scary disease, AIDS. This year the gala evening was visited by many famous personalities: from models, through musicians, directors to movie stars. Czech models, Karolina Kurková and Petra Němcová were also present.
A full programme featuring great stars
The programme includes a spectacular performance of Sting and Shaggy, Grace Jones, Ellie Goulding and Jason Derulo.
Guests were welcomed by Milla Jovovich and Ava Duvernay. There was talk of importance of this event, and although everyone came to enjoy this evening, it was emphasised that it is concerning a very serious matter. Almost 40 million people now live with AIDS and there is still no cure. The funds obtained in the auction held during the gala event should contribute to the addressing of this global problem.
Luxurious clothes in the centre of attention
The evening auction included a whole range of unique luxury items of which many were exhibited directly on the spot. The pinnacle of the auction was a luxury fashion show, presenting models of the largest world-class fashion houses, such as Balmain, Dior, Givenchy, Gucci, Loewe, Fendi, Giambattista Valli, Prada, Philipp Plein and many others. The models were subsequently auctioned as a collection, bringing 1.7 million dollars!
