Fashion no longer sets the standard to be elegant clothing that wraps around your curves, but it has shifted to clothing that is less ruly, free, but comfy. Such apparel is available even from prominent Czech designers, who offer original items, thanks to which you’ll look absolutely stunning in the street. Which oversize fashion Czech designers can you rely on?
Have you ever come across the brand Project Rehab? The founder, Kateřina Maršounová, established her fantastic and original brand four years ago, and since then, one success followed after the other. Not only are the fashion wares from her shop charismatic and let you express the inner you, they are also quite unique and unmissable. Thanks to the abstract, sprayed motifs, they look fantastic.
A loose shirt sprayed with colour or a jumper with a unique design? You’ll find everything in Project Rehab. Apart from what Kateřina offers on shelf, you can also bring in the clothes you have at home for an upgrade. Do you have an old jean or leather jacket hanging in the wardrobe? Give it a new, original look.
"Once a client brought in a leather jacket by Valentino for me to draw on. Or a lamb leather, men’s coat from Dior. I‘ve been turning luxury brands upside down since the beginning – it’s what I enjoy."
Popular and recognized designer, Michael Kováčik, introduced his new fashion line, called Studio, towards the end of last year. The unisex collection of fantastic, oversize jumpers and t-shirts will exhilerate all lovers of quality fashion by Czech designers. Here at the editorial office, we became enamored with long, oversize jumpers with a leather lower part, that reminds us of a dress. We like that it goes well with both sneakers and heels. There aren’t many items on offer from the collection yet, but Michael has promised that he will slowly start filling it up.
"In designing the second fashion line of the brand, I mostly focused on comfortability and easiness of wearing of clothes. Jumpers are accompanied by asymmetrical skirts and as a ‘one-piece’, are ideally suited for wearing throughout the whole day. I used the best quality cotton."
Even designer, Jakub Polanka, took a liking to oversize fashion. He is among the best Czech designers. Every collection consists of high-class and remarkable items. Jumper skirts with batik motfis, soft feathers, holes and studs and other details look absolutely fantastic. And most importantly, comfortable! If you are a fan of elegant fashion, then the oversize shirt dresses are the ideal option for you, they also look fabulous.
Which designer appealed to you the most?
Welcome to the world of oversize fashion, which can disguise more than you think. The truth is, that every third Czech person‘s resolution is to lose some weight. 50% of those people, however, never fulfill that promise. Which is another reason why I‘m thrilled by these 3 Czech designers!
The Rehab Project collection by Kateřina Maršounová has disappointed me. Graffiti, smiley faces, holes and variously colour-sprayed materials, I’ve seen all of this at least a 100 times and it has all been around since the 90’s. In my opinion, her collection is a kind of punk, knock off medley. Everything was thrown together to form an incongruent cake mixture, which is how this collection came to life. Unfortunately, not even the face of model Šarlota Frantinová, helped to save the mess. Nonetheless, it was probably the best thing about it.
The collection by Michael Kovačik was a pleasant surprise. There is a strong emphasis on minimalism accentuated by Scottish provovation. One thing is certain, the Scottish ‘tartan pattern’ will never go out of fashion, and it will always seem provocative to me. You do know, that the tradition is Scots don’t wear ‘anything’ under their kilts! Hmm…
I was most impressed by a dark black oversize jumper with an assymetric Scottish miniskirt/kilt, which was worn by Aneta Vignerová. It’s cool, punk and the combination is ahead of its time. It is ideal for casual wearing, but it’s also suited for an evening rock concert.
We’ve left the best for last! Jakub Polanka and his literally, royal ballad. I have to admit, that I’ve never seen more beautiful oversize jumpers, than the ones by him. The combination of marble colours with ostrich feathers. WOW! This is exactly the dose of originality, aesthetics and taste to satisfy even the most finicky of fashion connoisseurs.
My personal favourite is the cream-grey coloured jumper with a hood, which has ostrich feathers decorating the left side. The combination of slim, leather pants and ankle strap heels forms absolute perfection! It is just as suitable for a holiday at the Kempinski hotel in Tatra mountains, as it is for a work day in the center of snowy Prague.
