Helmut Newton

Master of black and white photographs and nude portraits

In collaboration with the art gallery Kicken Berlin, Museum Kampa has prepared a luxury exhibition of one of the most controversial fashion photographers of history - Helmut Newton. The master of black and white photographs and acts depicted through the provocative pictures of a model as a strong, active and confident woman in modern civilization. In addition to the beauty of the catwalks, stars such as Madonna, David Bowie and Sigourney Weaver also stood in front of the lens of the famous artist.

The thorny road of Helmut Newton

When he had to leave Germany in the first half of the 20th century because of his Jewish origin, there was no indication that fate had prepared an easy way for him. But Helmut Newton did not give up, and via Singapore he got as far as Australia where he decided to develop his photographic education. He started with it before leaving Germany.

The genius behind the lens

Shortly thereafter, Helmut Newton became a respected and progressive photographer whose concept of portraying a woman in portrait and nude photography has forever changed the character of both these photographic genres. Controversial, erotic, open and at the same time slightly mysterious - these are the luxurious images of a creative artist that you can now see at Kampa Museum.
