April marks the beginning of the biggest wedding season. This is the time many companies literally live off! But ir looks like this year will the the poorest in history in terms of marriages. Due to government regulations and the state of emergency, a multitude of engaged couples are rescheduling or even canceling their weddings.

Weddings may not have been banned, but only ten people can attend the event, and they have to wear face masks. Some couples got married anyway. Either they are expecting a baby in the nearby future, or they simply didn‘t feel like rewriting the dates on their wedding rings.

"Here at Prague 2, only two weddings will take place by the end of April, everyone else has canceled,"

confirmed the spokeswoman of the city district of Prague 2 Andrea Zoulová.

From June to September

A young mother from Líbeznice near Prague was looking forward to exchanging vows with her partner at the end of June. But the current situation forced her to postpone the wedding to the earliest possible date, which is September.

"I'm a little sad about it, I had my dream date and my dream wedding. We want everyone close to us to be there for our big day, and that‘s at least fifty people. I just hope that in September it will be possible for the wedding to take place the way we imagined it, "

hopes Tereza K., who definitely doesn‘t want photographs and videos in face masks as memories of her wedding day.

She also admits that she had been worried that her suppliers of flowers and the wedding banquet might have a problem with finances, but no one charged her extra.

Waiting for the groomsmen to arrive

A couple from Holešov canceled their wedding completely and postponed the date indefinitely. Their groomsmen live abroad.

"We were supposed to get married in July, but our groomsmen live in America. Since nobody knows when the borders will open and under what conditions, we‘ve canceled the wedding and hope to plan it for next year. It's important for us that they arrive,"

explained Petr N.

An almost ordinary work day

Healthcare workers from Istanbul, who are taking care of seriously ill coronavirus patients, had an interesting idea for their wedding day. Anesthesiologist Elif Akova and surgeon Alisan Berk Deniz took a break from work to exchange their vows right at the hospital where they work. They, too, had imagined this important step in their lives differently, but circumstances decided for them. Only their family attended the ceremony.
