The deluxe hotel that is located on a private islet 300 metres away from the coast, should originally have been built directly on the beach. However, because of its eventual widespread shading, it was decided to relocate it somewhere in the water.
To enable the construction of the skyscraper the entire island had to be created artificially. The hotel was built in the 1990’s, which was when the pace of development began to accelerate rapidly. So this building was considered to be one of the first-class architectural gems of modern Dubai. The hotel opened in 1999 and from the onset it has represented a symbol of almighty luxury.
This luxurious hotel can be reached by a helicopter, a boat or a one-of-a-kind Rolls-Royce. You can also arrive on foot, but you would probably be the only guest who had ever done something so “crazy”. The hotel offers 202 rooms that include the most expensive Royal Suite for more than CZK 360,000 per night. There are 9 luxury restaurants in the building and the hotel’s heliport is located on the 28th floor.
The building looks like a sailboat that embarks on its adventurous romantic pilgrimage to the Persian Gulf. Nevertheless, as it never leaves, it is a unique landmark in the city, which was the main goal at the commencement of its construction: to create something in Dubai that will have the same value as the Eiffel Tower for Paris or the London Eye for London.
Upon its completion, it was the world’s tallest hotel and the tallest building in Dubai. Now, in terms of its height, it is 14th in this unique city. 70,000 cubic metres of concrete, 9,000 tons of steel and 10,000 m² of gold leaves for its decoration were used for the construction of the Burj Al Arab skyscraper.
The main architect is Tom Wright, the height of the building is 321 metres, you can use 18 lifts and visit a total of 56 floors. The hotel is run by the Jumeirah Group.
