The Mysterious Magic of the Šumava Lakes

If you go to one of the Šumava lakes, you will discover fabulously beautiful experiences. The Šumava has a total of 5 lakes on the Czech side: i.e. the Černé, the Čertovo, the Plešné, the Laka and the Prášilské. Most frequently the dedicated cross-country skiers head directly to the Černé, the Plešné or the Laka Lakes.

Conquering the Šumava Plains

Very popular amongst the cross-country skiers are the Šumava Plains, where cross-country trails lead between picturesque villages, through the woods and then across the wide plains. This area is located between the villages of Churáňov, Filipova Huť, Bučina, Kvilda and Nové Hutě.

A Luxurious Cross-Country Trip

First set off from Churáňov. At the Olympia Hotel and at the end of the road that climbs to the village of Stachy you can take a look at the cross-country stadium at which Kateřina Neumannová was trained. This will surely awaken you and it will not be a problem for you to head on cross-country skis to Kvilda, which is located 10 km away. The luxurious trail runs along Hamerský Brook and past a watchtower that has beautiful views. Kvilda, the highest village in the Czech Republic (at 1,065 m asl) can be your main destination. If you do not feel like it, just step on it and then take a look at the Vltava Spring (which is another 6 km away).

Luxurious Comfort in Modrava

Also the area around Modrava is excellent for cross-country skiers. A relaxing trip along the Modrava Brook from the village of the same name offers beautiful views of nature that will be a balm for your soul.
