Tros Sketos, 37th KVIFF

Since the 43. year, which was in 2008, the festival signature tunes have obtained a unified guise, which varies from year to year in the main characters and the story told. The creators of the recent ones which form the long-term brand of MFF Karlovy Vary, are advertising directors Ivan Zachariáš and Martin Krejčí.

Thanks to them we can every year look forward to luxurious monochrome mini-stories, featuring prominent personalities of the film industry, who had obtained the Crystal Globe for their extraordinary artistic contribution to world cinematography.

The supporting role features... The crystal globe!

While famous personalities of the silver screen play the main role, the Crystal Globe always features in the supporting role. Miloš Forman uses it to powder hispills, Věra Chytilová glues the detached globe to the figure by scotch tape, Danny De Vito smashes a phone with it, when it wakes him up in the morning, Andy Garcia uses it to break down the locked door to his luxury villa, Helen Mirren appears in horror-like scenes in various locations, holding it in her hands. This year the signature tune is to feature Casey Affleck. What is it to be like, are you looking forward to it?

Signature tunes before the micro-stories

Before the venture of Zachariáš and Krejčí, the famous creator of signature tunes had been director David Ondříček. Very original, surrealistic and some would have said "psycho" is the signature tune of the 41. year. The tune of the 40. year follows the life of a boy up to his 40th birthday (the then age of the festival) with a large luxurious carnival at the time of his birthday celebration. The signature tune is accompanied by the slogan Life begins after forty! A young boy took us through the 39th year of the film festival, having stolen a cinema ticket from a guy at a bar in the Hotel Thermal and then running away from him. One version starred Jiří Bartoška, another Marek Eben and the third Eva Zaoralová.

Mikuláš Macháček from Studio Najbrt made the 42th signature tune, which is the only animated one. Well and of course unforgettable is also the luxurious trio of signature tunes by Tros Sketos by David Ondříček, which excelled at the 37th season.
