Nudity, anarchy, breaking down of conventions!

The highly creative Japanese fashion designer Meiko Ban decided to shock everyone at the Fashion Week in Tokyo. Her Thibaut S/S 2018 collection blurs the line between genders, reveals the body and calls for anarchy!

Let’s get naked! Thong jeans are a hit

The Fashion Week in Tokyo brought a new boom for jean trends. One of the most eye-catching models of the luxurious and eccentric Thibaut S/S 2018 collection were without a doubt jeans that reveal more than they hide. The fashion designer Meiko Ban knows how to attract attention and interest. When creating the collection, she wasn’t afraid to take the scissors and cut out the material literally everywhere – on the legs and the backside! The question is: Can this luxurious piece of clothing still be considered jeans, and where would one wear it?

Genderless: Veil, frill and lace for men!

The models are full of frills, lace and tights. This wouldn’t be strange on its own, but these feminine elements were used to decorate mostly men’s clothes. Genderless is the key concept here. The collection blurs the differences between genders, breaks boring rules and makes you feel like entering a whole new dimension of reality. The colors do not help with the masculinity either; the collection is full of neutral colors such as white, beige, brown or slightly brighter blue.

Plastic as a luxurious material

The eccentric collection consists of models made of classic materials such as cotton, denim, ribbed knitted fabric, tulle or luxurious lace. But it wouldn’t be Meiko Ban is she didn’t reach for some extreme materials too. Plastic on the catwalk? Decorating a top with a plastic bag? Meiko Ban strives to establish this new trend and to make plastic a part of luxurious clothing.

We appreciate the displayed courage, eccentricity and creativity; one must ask: Is the world ready for such extravagance, or does it belong exclusively on the catwalk?
