The main guests of this year's film festival will undoubtedly be Julianne Moore and her husband, screenwriter and director Bart Freundlich. Together they will present their latest film, After the Wedding (2019), which premiered at the Sundance festival. Julianne Moore plays a leading role in the movie, which she also co-produced.
The film fter the Wedding is not the first shared endeavour of Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich. Their collaboration, which developed into a partnership, began with the film The Myth of Fingerprints (1997), Freundlich's directorial debut. Julianne appeared in a number of her husband's film, such as World Traveler (2001) or Trust the man (2005).
The list of Julianne's film roles is long. She started out as an actress in television series. The first movie she starred in was The Fugitive (1993), followed by other films such as Nine Months (1995), Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Hannibal (2001), Children of Men (2006), Big Lebowski (1998), Magnolia (1999), Far from Heaven (2002), The kids are all right (2010) or Maps to the Stars (2014).
Actor Billy Crodup, who has been nominated four times for the prestigious Tony Award for his theatrical roles and won one in 2007 for his performance in Tom Stoppard's The Coast of Utopia, will also visit Karlovy Vary.
Another international star coming to the film festival is American actress Patricia Clarkson, this year's Golden Globe winner for the world-famous series Sharp Objects, selected episodes of which were screened at KVIFF last year in a European premiere. Patricia Clarkson will also receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema at the 54th KVIFF.
Yes, he was here in 2017 and we are happy to have him again! The winner of the KVIFF President's Award and Oscar holder will present the film Light of My Life, which he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in, portraying a leading male role alongside new acting talent Anne Pniowsky.
