St. Moritz is rightfully considered to be a true 'Mecca' of winter sports. It boasts unprecedented beauty and luxury, with champagne flowing and caviar being served every day. Simply put, it surpasses any holiday resort. We bring you 5 reasons why this place is held in such high regard and we'll also reveal who has fallen a victim to its charm.

1. Five-star luxury everywhere you look as well as royal visits

St. Moritz is a place of immense beauty and splendor. It boasts a variety of architectural gems in the form of hotels, resorts or challets, the most exclusive services, and last but not least, gourmet cuisine prepared by first-class chefs decorated with a Michelin star. You can find here five-star hotels, such as Suvretta House, Kulm Hotel or Badrutt's Palace, where Alfred Hitchcock spent his honeymoon. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel is a proof that they really think of everything here: they pamper their guests by letting them ride in a luxury Bentley.

At the same time, however, the locality is slightly more discreet compared to places like Courchevel or Zermatt. That's why celebrities such as Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Liz Hurley and Robert De Niro also found liking in it. Even the royal family, Prince Edward and Countess Sophie of Wessex, spent their holiday here.

St. Moritz is also home to Cresta Run, a famous bobsled track, which is the only one in the world made from natural ice. In January and February, guests from all over the world come together to watch the phenomenal snow polo and horse racing.
