Black and white. Two colors that have dominated the luxury Balmain collections for years. Recently, metallic shades have been introduced, occasionally spiced up with a splash of red or blue. But when Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, presented a whole range of colorful models in Paris, we were breathless with awe!
"Only Smarties have the answer." This advertising slogan was the first thing that came to our mind when we saw the flood of orange, yellow, purple, cyan, brick red, blue or green, so very untypical for Balmain. However, we can subscribe to this pleasant change, even though it made us feel like we were watching a completely different fashion show at times. Guess which show? Yes, Valentino!
Can you see those pleated skirts, large bows, ruffles, rich colors, fluffy cuts and fringe of all kinds? These are the elements that Valentino regularly incorporates into his luxury collections, and they look like a fresh whiff of air in Balmain SS20 after years upon years of black and white.
In addition to the abovementioned elements, the SS20 is dominated by sharp lines, large shoulders and oversize as well as reveling models. So what trend to follow next summer? Either show a fair bit of your skin, or hide everything you can!
For the very first time, denim also appears in a different color than plain old blue. Will you dare to go out wearing sweet pink or energetic yellow?
Oversize is oversize. It's a nice style that should have a distinctive place in every woman's wardrobe. However, there's one rule regarding oversize clothing you need to keep in mind: everyone you meet should immediately be able to tell that you're wearing oversize. In this case, it rather looks like you've decided to drown in clothes 20 sizes larger out of unrequited love.
A crowd of 106 models on a single catwalk and a small, subtle, incredibly likeable designer with a great mind that designed and created all this, hidden in their midst. Wow, this is freaking amazing! This is a fashion show unlike anything I've ever seen. So much beauty, extravagance, so many triangles and circles don't appear together on the catwalk very often.
It was an absolute bliss for my eyes, because I could spot both crazy and totally wearable, and most importantly, very intriguing models. Yes, there's some extravagance here and there, but the wearable kind of extravagance. There are no out of this world creations you wouldn't wear even over your dead body - on the contrary! The models are absolutely unique, varied in color, there's a plenty of interesting shapes... Every woman would find something to her liking here! Glamour, flair, sexappeal, but also tenderness or romance are represented in the collection; you can even turn into a princess.
I can't but applaud. This show gets a big thumbs up from me, I love it to bits. But let's make one thing clear in advance: this collection is intended mainly for women who have not an ounce of extra fat on their bodies and who can't pride themselves in having an ample bossom. And if you happen to dislike triangles and circles, too bad for you, because the designer went really wild on those here. Maybe he could have restrained himself a bit...
This black-silver combination, that's my jam! I wouldn't hesitate to wear this model on a big stage. Nobody could overlook me while donning it! At the same time, everything that should stay hidden would remain hidden, which makes me feel comfortable.
Here we go again - another amazing dress. I can't get enough of it. If I could, I'd immediately take it out of the closet and start planning what important event I'd attend in this red gem. It is a great fit too, very sexy, with slits on the legs for that extra flair.
This model is something I would never be seen in, I don't have that kind of courage and aside of that, I think it would earn me the nickname "yellow chicken". But on the other hand, it's very original and whoever dares to wear it will have my admiration.
Black is good, that's right! :)) This color will never disappoint, therefore it should always be in our wardrobe. This dress is only interesting thanks to the triangular pieces decorating it, otherwise it's a good old classic, but it will make you look spectacular anyway.
