After 12 long years with the Givenchy House of Fashion he decided to try a change. Designer Riccardo Tisci started working in the position of creative director for Burberry after replacing Christopher Bailey this year. He presented a deluxe SS19 debut collection at London Fashion Week, which consists of an unbelievable 134 outfits together with the men’s models.
Exactly a year later and with new management Burberry presents deluxe elegance, which replaces the knitted items, rainbow coloured models, sporting vests or tasteless ponchos and raincoat style coats, which are items that the previous creative director Christopher Bailey based his last two collections on.
Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci has abandoned exaggerated extravagance and created a new deluxe SS19 collection, the subtitle of which could be universality. Everyone who likes elegant, rocker, refined and also bolder styles will find something in this collection!
Riccardo Tisci has created deluxe coats, mini and maxi dresses, pencil and leather skirts, denim shirts, corsets, rocker-style jackets or delicate blouses for women for the oncoming spring/summer season. The fabrics he chose were deluxe leather, cotton, denim, silk or vinyl.
In spite of all this, the collection also includes several models that cross the boundaries of intense elegance quite severely and these simply make SS19 more Burberry. These items include the black t-shirt with the slogan “Cow”, the skirt with the cow motif, the nude blouse with the horse motif or the black model with the gold fringes around the chest, waist, hands and ankles.
And who starred on the runway in London while wearing Burberry models? Kendall Jenner, Natalia Vodianova, Jourdan Dunn or Irina Shayk.
It’s really not that surprising when you appoint an Italian as the head of one of the most British brands of all time. A brand that has been known for its conservatism since it was established. Is this a good move? I certainly think so, because this collection has “balls”!
The classic chequered coat, black lace top with white dots, brown patent leather pumps and the black and white high-waisted skirt, with a photo of 19th century twins. That is exactly one of the elements that seem to shout “VIVA ITALIA”! The tightly bound hair and red lipstick adds drama. If you want to feel like a hypnotic femme fatal, then this is the right choice!
And finally the beige perfection worn by Kendall Jenner. The trousers with a small vent and subtle décor at the ankles are beautiful! And, my God, the coat!!!! It shouts “I am the embodiment of luxury and elegance!” This is essentially a coat that will remain trendy until you are eighty and your grandchildren will be able to inherit it. It is basically a coat people would murder for!
