Philippe Starck, as a unique designer in his field. Philippe Starck is a unique artist. His mission and at the same time his vision is that creation whatever the form must improve the lives of as many people as possible. He is true to his idea: “No one has to be a genius, but everyone has to participate.”
He has dazzled the world with his ethical ways.
At the start of the 80s, Philippe Starck was successful in Japan with several revolutionary building designs. His genius consists in simplicity of shapes which are however also very modern. A building standing in Tokyo was completed in 1989 and bears the name Nani Nani. It is characteristic and very individual and also covered in living material which develops over time.
The list of his important works goes on to include France with his control tower at Bordeaux Airport (1997) and extension of the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (1998).
He is above all famous for his interior designs in resorts and hotels. Together with Ian Schrager, he participated in the innovative concept of the Royalton Hotel in New York. In 2007, in Rio de Janeiro, Philippe Starck created interior architecture and decorations for the Faena Hotel. He also for example designed interiors for the Katsuya or Spa Ciel restaurants. Hotel SLS in South Beach can also boast his name, as can Hotel Delano which will excite you with its perfection of luxury: Parisian chic intertwines here with a masterfully designed contemporary space.
He is also a visionary and an innovator, trying to design in an environmentally-friendly manner and his designs are in many cases labelled revolutionary.
He is also the author of many projects which he collaborates on with famous companies, or which are created under his own luxurious brand XO. His name is famed the world over. In the spring of 2016, together with Fabienne and Philippe Amzalak, he started operation of the urban and literary café ZA under the canopy of the Forum des Halles in Paris.
Another of his unprecedented actions was design of The Ideas Box, a portable multimedia library which Philippe Starck created for libraries without borders. In 2010, Philippe Starck entered a new domain – the cosmetic industry He started collaboration with Nina Ricci, creating a new bottle for the L'Air du Temps perfume for her.
It is no surprise that this extraordinary artist was asked to design medals for the Olympic Games which will be held in Paris in 2024.
The luxurious Bon Jour Versailles lamp was recently unveiled, created together with the luxurious Baccarat brand.
