The date by which shall appear on the world market the new luxurious PS5, is still out of sight. However, we can present to you this jewel, which will not be yearned for only by gaming fans. The word ´design´ gets in connection with PlayStation another, highly luxurious dimension. The unique PlayStation 4 games console is set with six thousand Czech crystals PRECIOSA and fifty 24-carat gold leaves.
“This is historically the first ever and unique cooperation between the Czech representation of the PlayStation brand and the domestic producer of crystal jewellery, PRECIOSA. The fans of design and the gaming worlds in the Czech Republic have never been able to see anything similar," adds PR & Event Manager of PlayStation Czech Republic and Slovakia, Víťa Řezníček.
Luxury stones everywhere you look.
PS4 is set with finely-cut rhinestones Maxima from Czech crystal, Preciosa. They create patterns known from PlayStation controls. Absolutely all "ingredients", which are used in the manufacture of these rhinestones, originate in the Czech Republic. Crystal valley in the north of Bohemia, where all Preciosa plants are based, are unique precisely because of the occurrence of all raw materials necessary for the production of the best crystal in the world.
The luxurious crystal on the games console has a Crystal Aurum colour, which stands out by its unique golden sparkle. This colour became the favourite of the best fashion designers in the world - for example 700,000 stones in the colour Crystal Aurum adorned at this year´s Met Gala the gown from the workshop of the Balmain fashion house for Oscar winner, actress Juliette Binoche. It was singer Kylie Minogue, who put on a gown covered by Crystal Aurum for her tour Golden, which started on Tuesday 18.9. 2018. From among Czech designers it is Klára Nademlýnská who this season works with Crystal Aurum.

How long did it take to complete this work?
The work on decoration of the game console was extraordinary. Each stone had to be applied manually and separately. While such fashion designers are accustomed to the use of specially-designed Preciosa transfer sheets, by the help of which they can transfer even several hundred thousand stones, the surface of the game console required a totally different approach. The application took our designer five hours.
Where did you get the idea to link your skills with the gaming world?
For Preciosa any such project is seen as challenge. We are able to decorate virtually any object with crystals and it is the best Czech crystal which provides similar events with the all-important originality. The aim of the Sony auction was to attract attention and turn daily and common things into something of extraordinary aesthetic and design value; the choice of Czech crystal was a simple one.
How much would such a gaming console cost?
Precisely because it is a collectible and completely unique piece, its price cannot be quantified.
The aim of the project was to draw attention to a charity project within the framework of the Czech Design Week 2017.
