It has already been 20 years since the German designer, Philipp Plein, founded his own label. On this occasion Philipp Plein introduced at the Milan Fashion Week his Luxury Collection of SS19, inspired by his lifelong icon - Michael Jackson. And certainly, he is not the first to do something similar. The collection in the style of the king of pop has already been introduced this year by Hugo Boss or Balmain.
The luxury models from the SS19 collection are carried in the spirit of extravagance and harsh look. As Philipp Plein says himself, get ready for something seriously thrilling! And what he promised, he also delivers. The collection works with leather, glossy latex or python motif. There is also the legendary red leather jacket, and so it seems that all the boxes were ticked with precision!
The extravagant models are complemented by leather belts with bold silver applications in rebel style, and leather gloves. In addition, the pieces from the SS19 collection are adorned by gold and silver accents, precious stones or crystals.
As regards the question of patterns, Philipp Plein reached for camouflage, which in combination with the novel materials created luxury models in the style of army & rock'n'roll. Camouflage fabric adorns jackets as well as overcoats and brings a little relaxation from the ubiquitous leather.
In addition to the fashion show the guests could also enjoy a performance by singer Chris Brown. On stage he gave a great performance, so much so that we have almost forgotten his long-past incident when he attacked his then girlfriend Rihanna. Whether rebellious Chris Brown became good, or not, it took nothing from the brilliant fashion show of Philipp Plein!
A collection stuffed with tacks, needles and all sorts of punk pins. Yes, that´s the SS19 collection by Philipp Plein. He says he was inspired by Michael Jackson, however this point is perhaps only reflected in his little gesture at the end of the show. The whole reminds me more of the of Marilyn Manson and he is quite a long shot from Jackson, really ...
If I had to choose one model after all, it would be the one composed of an oversize T-shirt with a great female angel and a red inscription of the brand´s name, a pair of black shorts with a strap connected with a kind of leather garter and finally there is the interesting concept of musketeer boots with high heels. It radiates sexappeal and revolt at the same time, and that is exactly the right dose of provocation which I enjoy!
What I don´t enjoy so much is the army style. It´s just that I think that this trend has long since passed and it should not come back all that soon. In addition, for example, when you look at the huge army jacket...do you really think that you will charm someone in that? That is quite simply a very long way from my vision of luxury.
