Earthquake intensity on Santorini is escalating

Several more earthquakes struck the waters around the Greek island of Santorini just a few hours after the local authorities declared a state of emergency. This week, a popular tourist area was shaken by seismic activity, with thousands of tremors recorded since Sunday.

On Thursday evening at 20:16 local time, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the sea between Santorini and another island, Amorgos, followed by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake about two hours later. Santorini residents have started night patrols due to fears of looting on the island, which has largely been abandoned, as most of the residents have left, the AP agency reported.

New gymnasiums refuse to accept regions despite the requirements of the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education would like to see a strengthening of general education in secondary schools. However, these are usually established by regions which, with the exception of Prague, Highlands and Pilsen, do not go in this direction. The first choice for the parents of ninth graders is a gymnasium in 32% of cases.

"Regions typically do not have even a quarter of the places in gymnasiums and lyceums for their ninth graders. Therefore, they need to double the capacities to reach the vision of the Ministry of Education (MŠMT),"

states the PAQ Research analysis according to ČTK.
