Comme Des Garcons

Over the years, Walt Disney has collaborated with many famous designers including labels such as Marc Jacobs, Valentino and Moschino. Mass retailers such as Uniqlo, Zara and Primark have also created unique limited collections in collaboration with Walt Disney.

It is not absolutely clear to anyone what it is that makes cartoon characters from children’s films so in demand on clothing and accessories for adults. Maybe it is the ingenious and simple drawings which the whole world knows, or maybe it is the fact that Walt Disney represents such a strong name. It may be nostalgia, when we remember our childhood, but it is probably a mix of all these things together. The important thing is that Micky Mouse, Minnie, Bambi and Winne the Pooh will not be disappearing from our lives altogether and will continue to astound us at luxury fashion shows around the world.

The most famous hero: Mickey Mouse

In the forefront of all of Walt Disney’s figures stands Mickey Mouse, a character which has appeared in collections by Jeremy Scott, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Stella McCartney and Comme Des Garcons. A luxury dress with Mickey was also designed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, and collaboration with the Marc Jacobs and Cath Kidston labels is also well-known.

The life of Mowgli in a collection by Kenzo

A men’s and women’s collection inspired by the famous Jungle Book was created last year in collaboration with Kenzo. The luxury items there bore a theme of rainforests and the cartoon characters added to their uniqueness and originality.

Bambi offers a story told by Givenchy

The luxurious collection by Givenchy with the young deer Bambi offers design not represented by the printed character from 1942 alone. This concerns a meaningful print, in which two distinct stages of his life intermingle. Bambi is a curious, naïve, shy yet brave and dutiful deer, these being typical childhood characteristics. Over time however, he grows up and keeps these memories hidden inside himself like a skeleton in a closet. This is why we see a wooden wardrobe in the background of the motif. The dark wardrobe contains the darkest of thoughts such as fear, abandoned sexual desires, selfish needs and irrational desires. These are defined by the naked body in the foreground of the wooden frame.

You will also find luxury prints on men’s and women’s t-shirts, sweatshirts, handbags, shoes and dresses and even on mobile phone covers.
