When you hear Elie Saab, you immediately think of fabulous gowns featuring poofy and long skirts, plenty of tulle, lace and flawless cuts. The SS2021 collection is no exception. Believe it or not, even our uncompromising critic Anděla Vostrá was almost at a loss for words this time, and that's saying something!
A woman standing with her feet firmly on the ground, looking at the horizon of endless possibilities with determination. That is the spirit in which the new SS2021 collection was created. Instead of a catwalk, the Lebanese designer Elie Saab sent his models into the heart of nature, surrounded by rocks. It's no surprise that the collection also includes a traditional spring pattern - flowers, which fit perfectly into this concept. You too shouldn't be avoiding flowery meadows or blossoms next season! The ethereal fairy look is going to be in.

A smooth look versus alluring freedom
With a few exceptions, the new collection is perfectly smooth and the embodiment of sophisticated elegance. But it wouldn't be Elie Saab if he didn't bring in a little excitement and drama at the same time. There is a number of luxury models adorned with disheveled feathers, sharp lines or distinctive textures in the form of loose ruffles and lace.

I woke up in heaven
After all those godawful fashion shows with disgusting clothes that I wouldn't put on even if I was paid for it, the new collection of Lebanese designer Elie Saab is a caress for the soul. Although the collection is very posh and only a fraction of it is suitable for daily wear, it's still nice to look at all those models in beautiful dresses. Of course, it wouldn't be me not to find something to complain about. Thinking about it, I should probably start designing my own clothes, otherwise I'll never be 100% satisfied.

Not bad. The white is so pristine that I'd be afraid to move for fear of getting it dirty right away, but with my luck, I'd get shat on by a pigeon or something anyway. The feathers, though... I'm not convinced. I'm afraid it would tickle me everywhere, so I'd be either giggling or scratching myself all the time, on top of which everyone would be making fun of me for looking like a plucked chicken - or, in my case, a plucked turkey. Without them, the model would look much better.

A beautiful white dress that I can imagine in pretty much any seaside resort. BUT. What about the monstrosity around her neck? It makes the model resemble a dress worn by the ladies in American western movies from the 1950s. And most of those ladies were drama queens whose single role was running among the gunmen and screaming hysterically. So my verdict is - the dress is beautiful, but drop the black accessories.

Alright, I have no idea what to think about this. On the one hand, the woman looks like she's naked, but on the other hand, I see way too much of transparent fabric. The overall impression is very iffy.

This is exactly how I imagine a modern day Xena. Or a superwoman from the future. One should almost be afraid to stand next to the model, because those huge gathered sleeves could hurt someone, for example scratch one's retina if one was standing too close.

I'm scared of her. In my opinion, the model must be underage, yet the impression she makes in this ensemble is downright frightening. She must be either a vampire or a weird kind of Catwoman or simply a strict businesswoman that drains all of your energy and gives you the boot. I also think that weaker ones among us might think that the extended sleeves will give them the ability to fly, and that would be a tragedy...
Otherwise great, this collection has my respect - so far, it's the best I've ever seen.
