The “Museum of the 21st Century” will be opened in Egypt at the end of 2018
Egypt is a fascinating country offering deluxe holidays by the sea, the opportunity of unforgettable views of the unending desert and visits to thrilling structures in the form of pyramids. A unique museum, which will become another tourist attraction, should soon be opened not far from the pyramids in Giza.
The Grand Egyptian Museum will become the biggest in the world!
And it won’t be just any museum! It is assumed that this will become the biggest museum in the world, which will attract 5 million visitors a year during the first phase after it is opened and 10 million during the second phase, which should be launched in 2020.
It will include a deluxe garden, which will display specific species of tree that were planted in ancient Egypt. The entire project will cost 1 billion American Dollars, which Japan has offered 300 million Dollars to finance as an advantageous loan. We can expect to be able to admire over 100,000 artefacts from the era of the Pharaohs, the Greek and Roman periods, in this museum.
A larger-than-life Ramses II. and the sandals of Tutankhamen
The main entrance will be adorned by an enormous statue of Ramses II, which used to be located on Ramses Square in nearby Cairo. Visitors will be greeted just past the entrance by a staircase full of statues and other items, which will lead to the 2 enormous corridors of Tutankhamen.
The country’s most valuable artefacts will be relocated to the museum, as well as artefacts that have been restored and renewed. A specialised laboratory for restoring and renewing artefacts was also established in the museum and is now one of the biggest historic conservation centres in the world. For example, the sandals of Tutankhamen, which have undergone complicated renewal work and are over 3,500 years old, are one of the exhibits to be displayed in the future.
An enormous area, which restaurants and hotels will be added to
During the first phase a museum space of 50,000 m² will be opened, out of the total 117 thousand metres to be available in the future. The remaining area will consist of hotels, restaurants and other exhibition areas. And all this will be dedicated to a single civilisation! Construction of a metro station on a line from Cairo is also being slowly planned.
The enormous building with a glazed façade will afford a panoramic view of the pyramids only 2 kilometres away.
