According to the Czech Statistical Office, the balance of foreign trade in goods for the first eight months of the year reached CZK 71.1 billion, according to preliminary results, which represents a year-on-year decrease of CZK 41.6 billion. Since the beginning of the year, exports decreased by 11.0% year-on-year, while imports decreased by 9.7%.
"The highest year-on-year declines occurred in April and May on the export side. Due to the reduction of part of production, exports decreased by 38.0% in April and by 28.9% in May. The value of imports of goods decreased by 26.4% and 23.2%, respectively,"
says Marek Rojíček, Chairman of the Czech Statistical Office.
In particular, declines were recorded in trade in motor vehicles, trade in machinery and equipment and electrical equipment. "In the case of motor vehicles, the year-on-year decline in exports in the first eight months of this year was 21%, which in monetary terms represents CZK 140 billion," said Miluše Kavěnová, Director of the CZSO Foreign Trade Statistics Department.
However, the Czech Republic is not the only country to find itself deep in negative numbers. In Germany, for example, there was a decrease of CZK 84.5 billion on the export side and CZK 89.4 billion on the import side.

According to the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll, Joe Biden maintains a double-digit lead over Trump less than three weeks before the election. Former Vice President Joe Biden won 54% to 43% among likely voters in the poll. The poll also shows that a narrow majority of potential voters (52%) consider Trump's presidency unsuccessful. On the other hand, 45% consider it successful.
In 2016, Trump gained only 46% of voters at the national level, but it was enough for him to achieve victory in the key states. Biden has now gained on Trump in several key states, including Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, which were crucial to Trump's victory in 2016. But Trump's breathing on Biden's neck.

A rare copy of William Shakespeare's first folio was auctioned for a record $ 9.9 million, which is about 233 million crowns, making it the most expensive piece of literature ever sold. The folio was originally expected to be auctioned for approximately $ 6 million. The auction lasted six months and was eventually knocked down to Stephan Loewentheil, an antiquarian and collector of rare books and photographs.
"William Shakespeare is incomparably the greatest writer in the English language and one of most important international cultural influencers in all history. The First Folio is the most important collection of plays ever published and revered throughout the world. It is an honour to purchase one of only a handful of complete copies of this epochal volume,"
said Stephen Loewentheil.
The book is formally entitled Comedy, History and Tragedy and was published in 1623 by Shakespeare's friends and actors who collaborated with him. Half of the 36 plays included, such as Macbeth, The Evening of the Three Kings and Julius Caesar, might otherwise have been lost forever were they not compiled in this volume, divided into three main genres by actors John Heminge and Henry Condell.

The sitcom Emily in Paris is a hit on Netflix! This TV show from the creators of the series Sex and the City has everything that defines today's generation of millennials. Luxurious outfits, dreamy Paris, influencers, top gastronomy, a kickstarted career and plenty of humor, but also unpleasant work issues or troubles with love. We bet you'll fall in love with the main character Emily (Lily Collins), who is leaving Chicago to pursue her dream job as a marketing manager in Paris!
After the first seasons, which has 10 episodes, Emily is already referred to as the new Carrie Bradshaw. See for yourselves if you agree with that! Personally, we can tell you this: We love this fresh and modern take on Sex and the City, but there is and always will be only one Carrie.
That's all from us today. Hope you have a beautiful coming weekend and if today drags on, try to repeat the mantra of the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche a couple of times:
"Work is fun."
With a positive mindset, the time you have to spend at work will pass by much faster!
