“I love watching those moments in which a woman walks in her heels and even when it’s just for a few seconds she nevertheless feels different, exceptional.” Manolo Blahnik

Manolo Blahnik is the top fashion designer in the shoe world. From the 11th August to the 12th October, you will have a unique opportunity in Prague, at the Kampa Museum, to visit a unique exhibition of his luxurious Art of Shoes display, amongst which you can also see two of the most recent jewels: shoes from the unique Denim Desserts collection for which he cooperated with the singer Rihanna. The collaboration of these two personalities has been taking some time but now it is harvesting an unprecedented success. More details and a photogallery of the luxury footwear from their collections can be found HERE.

“I have always loved Manolo Blahnik’s designs; his footwear represents the most luxurious and the most timeless shoes. When women wear his shoes, they feel incredible. Having the opportunity to work with him was indeed my dream that came true.” Rihanna.

The Art of Shoes Exhibition: 45 years of Manolo Blahnik’s creations

The Art of Shoes Exhibition, which will be on-view in the Kampa Museum until the 12th October, offers a cross-section of Manolo Blahnik’s life-long production. In addition to the modern luxury shoes that have been created in collaboration with Rihanna or that became famous in Sex In The City, you can admire, for example, Marie Antoinette shoe collection, which he created with Milena Canonero, the costume designer for Maria Coppola’s film Maria Antoinette.

212 models of shoes and 80 sketches and drawings of the famous designer are installed as a part of the exhibition.

Manolo Blahnik and his connection to the Czech Republic

All the locations that Manolo Blahnik has chosen for his exhibition are related to his work or to himself personally. His father was a Czech citizen and before the Second World War he worked as a pharmacist near Kampa. Manolo is proud to be able to claim that he himself is half Czech.

Craftsman and artist in one

When they are looking at unique models of luxury footwear, visitors will come to the conclusion that this is not just about shoes but artwork, because the style of this unique designer goes beyond the boundaries of fashion to unbridled creativity. Manolo Blahnik is an artist and a craftsman who has been personally supervising the birth of each collection at his factories in Milan for 45 years.

“When I design a pattern I think of stories about shoes. The richness and the sensuality of the fabrics help to create the theatrical atmosphere that is necessary for inducing life into the shoes.” Manolo Blahnik.
