All's Well That Ends Well - Such is the optimistic name of the luxury play by William Shakespeare created for this year's festival, directed by Antoním Pitinský. The role of Parolles is played by Ondřej Pavelka with Anna Fialová appearing as Helena. The music was composed by acclaimed Czech composer, Vladimír Franz.
The Summer Shakespeare Celebrations in Prague will be held from 26. June in the luxurious outdoor area if the summer Ball Game Hall at Prague Castle and the summer stage of the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. In total you can look forward to nine productions. What did the actors disclose about the currently rehearsed première?
The melancholy luxury comedy is full of love, miracles, intrigue and adventure, as is customary for Shakespeare plays. A poor daughter of a renown doctor wants to cure the French king and get her beloved Bertram for a husband, who; however, rejects her. Next comes feminine sophistication and a bed trick when the woman dresses up as someone else and the unsuspecting man gets into a tight corner.
"After reading the play which I had previously not known, I envisaged Helena as the heroine. However, during the rehearsals I found out that she is also a pretty hysterical girl, who goes after what she wants, often overstepping the boundaries, but in the end she succeeds in everything." Anna Fialová said about the character she plays.
The young gifted actress was approached to appear at the Summer Shakespeare Festival for the first time ever, and she accepted the offer with enthusiasm. On the other hand, Ondřej Pavelka could have already been seen at the Shakespeare Festival. At the press conference he said that this was his third appearance there.
"Exactly 18 years ago I appeared at the Summer Shakespeare Festival for the first time. I know this exactly, because we got a five-day leave and during that time my son was born; he is 18 years old now."
Although this year he planned to take a bit of a rest, ultimately everything has changed and we will be able to see him in the role of rogue Parolles.
"I have had a lot of work and I wanted to take a rest this summer. When they called me for the first time, I refused, but when I discovered who is going to direct the play, I accepted with gratitude."
Ondřej Pavelka has known the director for years. He admitted that ever since he saw his luxurious play Mother in the city of Brno, Jan Antonín Pitinský has become his favourite director.
All's Well That Ends Well is the last comedy of William Shakespeare and how aptly pointed out Professor Martin Hilský, who had translated the play:
