In the AW20 collection, Jiří Kalfař returns to where it all began. To the Garden of Eden, where there was a perfect harmony between nature and humanity. To a place and an era where flora and fauna flourished and humankind respected them. And this is all accompanied by luxury models, from which you will sometimes hold your breath…
Jiří Kalfař's new collection, just like the previous ones, carries a spirit of sustainability. The designer is well aware of the environmental implications of the clothing industry and therefore aims to leave a minimum carbon footprint and work primarily with sustainable materials. In AW20, for example, the so-called Peace silk is being used, during the production of which it is necessary to wait for the silkworm to fly out of the cocoon and only after that the cocoon is processed.
"The change starts with the person looking back at you in the mirror, you have to be the change you want to see in the world." Jiří Kalfař
As the AW20 goes hand in hand with nature, the earthy and natural colors are naturally predominating. In the collection you will find a wide range of pink, green and brown shades that should symbolize flowers, trees and the beauty of nature as such.
All this is complemented by Bohemian Preciosa crystals that will make you feel like a queen in Jiří Kalfař's dress! And what are the 3 luxury models that absolutely captivated us?
It is not a big secret that Jiří Kalfař devoted a considerable part of his life to ballet. The show thus became a tribute to British choreographer Wayne McGregor, who is Jiří's great idol in this field. He was inspired by his ballet performance Eden Eden in Stuttgart. The designer saw it in 2005, when he studied there and was so impressed that he now decided to revive the emotions he felt as he watched his show. What do you think? Did he succeed?
There is a lot of beauty in the world. Many good and bad or completely unknown designers. But Jiří Kalfař is above all mentioned. Jiří Kalfař does not only give the fashion some color, luxury and flair but also adds superiority to it. At first glance at his models you marvel, at second you fall on your ass, because this young talent is not only a designer, but also a thinker. I appreciate it when the dress is not only beautiful, but also embraces the spirit of sustainability of our planet. You can find all this in Jirka's designs.
I love flowers on my desk at any time of the year. When I look at them, I smile. Therefore, it is no wonder that Kalfař loves nature and depicts flowers in his dress. And quite in a decent and discreet way. The highlight for me is the old pink color. It was another genius who invented it, I think, or it was Kalfař himself.
The green color is very expressive, and not everyone can afford it. However, since the designer has the entire collection set in the countryside look, I shall forgive him. Materials and patterns are just great. Plus, I imagine how comfortable I would feel in this model without wearing some strangling underwear...
What else could I say about this model of purity and innocence? Missing sleeve or trousers is not scarcity, but an asset. Ruffles prove that you are wearing something after all. However, before I put this on, I have to go to solarium a few times.
No, no a no. Kalfař should not be designing any clothing for men. I am not referring to anything I wrote above, but please... gentlemen, do not wear it. I can imagine wearing this shirt myself, but certainly not my man. Amen.
