The Porsche 917/30 Spyder race car was produced in 1973. Thanks to its unmistakeable blue-yellow colour it became ingrained in the mind of all racing-world enthusiasts. It acquired its “Die Hard” nickname.

In 1998 Porche released its GT1 Strassenversion model. Its body is made mainly of carbon fibres; in the centre there is a 544 bhp 3,163 cc twin-turbocharged dual overhead cam horizontally opposed a six-cylinder water-cooled engine. GT1 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. It was auctioned in 2017.

Porsche 917 with chassis number 917-024 was sold for more than USD 14,000,000. It won the first total victory in the 24-hour Le Mans race in 1970. It was fitted with the first 5-litre V12 engine developed in Weissach. This vehicle also appeared in the Steve McQueen film, "Le Mans".
