In 2007, the hotel was included in the “America’s Favorite Architecture” list maintained by the American Institute of Architects.
Hotel Delano was designed by the architect Robert Swartburg and was built in 1947. It was originally used for military purposes. The then four-wing Art Deco tower was the tallest building in Miami. Extensive renovation of the interiors was commenced in 1994, designed by the famous designer Philippe Starck. The hotel is named after the American president Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Philippe Starck gave the luxury rooms a playful and unobtrusive look. The original white rooms of the Delano Hotel, which guarantee supreme comfort for you to relax in, are famous the world over. They are fitted with hand-crafted luxury carpets and oversize plants. Choose between a unique view of the ocean or a luxurious view of the wonderful city.
Delano is a luxurious and unique boutique hotel which has changed South Beach forever. In its interior, Starck managed to ensure perfect balance between various details and large communal areas, which are playful, elegant, slightly theatrical and filled with boundless energy. Simply put, the space here is proof of the fact that the new rules of smart design are represented by simplicity with sharp, uncluttered and modern features.
The luxury Bianca Restaurant at the Delano Hotel offers an imaginative Italian menu. Dishes are in principle prepared using only ingredients from local farms. For a change, the Umi Sushi and Sake Bar offers an informal culinary experience, ideal for groups of diners. The sophisticated Rose Bar is the perfect spot to drink some famous cocktails all day long and the Delano Beach Club is the ideal place to spend a luxurious day or evening by the unique pool. And the FDR nightclub serves as the centre of nightlife in Miami South Beach.
Delano is part of the Morgans Hotel Group, which operates hotels in Miami Beach, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, London and Istanbul.
