The most famous luxury racecourse in the Czech Republic, situated on the southern outskirts of Prague on the left bank of the Vltava River, may have new majority owners, but racing in this traditional location but has already begun. On Sunday, April 8th, you were able to participate in the start of the racing season, the culmination of which was the Gomba Handicap race.
Thanks to the new majority owner, entrepreneur Radovan Vítek, the racecourse in Velká Chuchle is undergoing major and luxurious changes. Though traditional races will be held, investments are being made to build modern premises. However, horse race lovers will feel significant changes in April. The biggest ones are better orientation in the area, new refreshment stalls, and a refurbished luxury restaurant.
The 91st Gomba Handicap of the Mayor of Prague traditionally opened the race for sprinters aged four years and older, and on April 8th, seven races were held. A total of 19 riders rode 59 horses. This season will be packed. The new owner guarantees eighteen amazing race days, the most in the Czech Republic, which he would like to maintain also in the future.

By car - from the center of Prague go to Malá Chuchle and after passing under the railway bridge and the petrol station, turn right and follow the sign to Velká Chuchle. Upon arrival to Velká Chuchle, you will reach a railway crossing, in front of which you go straight ahead towards Radotín, where you will see the building of the grandstand, at the end of which you will find the car park.
Metro and bus - from Prague city center, it is best to take metro line B to Smíchovské nádraží. From there, line 244 goes to Velká Chuchle and stops directly in front of the main entrance of the racecourse, the Dostihová Závodiště Chuchle stop. Buses 129, 241, 243 and 318 will take you to Dostihová stop, about 800 meters by foot down Dostihová Street and left at the railway crossing, down Radotínská street.
Train - line "S7" Praha-Beroun, from Praha-Hlavní nádraží or Praha-Smíchov station will take you 200 meters from the main entrance of the racecourse.
