The Meissen Porcelain Factory has been around for a long time. It was in Meissen where the white porcelain was made for the first time in Europe. It was the Polish King August the Strong, a big porcelain fan, to whom porcelain used to be delivered from faraway China.

White gold in Europe

Only thanks to the interest of August the Strong to grasp the production mystery of porcelain, the so-called white gold, we can enrich our tables with luxury porcelain designs today. He was persistent and kept trying to come up with the ideal recipe for porcelain production. In the end, he succeeded. In 1710, the first manufacture in Meissen was open. And this manufacture has been producing luxurious porcelain until today.

Nevertheless, the inventor of the process was not the Polish King. Instead, it was Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus who came up with the invention in 1708. After his death, his student, Johann Friedrich Böttger, continued with the production.
