Every year the best wine producers from Italy visit the beautiful Villa Richter beneath Prague Castle, offering a taste of their unique wines. The main character of this amazing social event is Mr Braňo Chovan, aficionado and importer of luxury Italian wines, thanks to whom these wine tasting days are to be held for the fourteenth time this year.
The first day is, since last year intended for gastronomy professionals. On the second day are invited all who like quality wine. Therefore our editorial staff couldn´t miss it!
We tasted a lot of great wines from Tuscany, from the Montefalco area, Sardinia, Veneto, South Tyrolean or the Piedmont region. Is it even possible to choose the best wine from 31 luxury vineries? We don´t think so! Can you be guided by famous personalities and the choices they made?
The wine which Michelle Obama drunk on her birthday
We got a chance to taste the excellent white wine from the vineyard Costa di Giulia. To the original 100% Vermentin was added 35% Sauvignon Blanc, lending the wine a more fruity, richer flavour. It is precisely this wine that was chosen by the wife of former US President, Michelle Obama, to celebrate her birthday 5 years ago. It was the year of 2013, which was generally speaking one of the best ones! So definitely a good choice!
The next time you can try vertical degustation!
An interesting way of wine tasting that we couldn´t let slip by is called vertical degustation. It is the tasting of always one type of wine from one vineyard according to years. We had the chance to taste luxury red organic wine Sagrantino of Montefalco from the Antonelli vineyard, namely the years of 1998, 2004 and 2008.
The luxurious wine tasting Gran Gala del Vino Italiano takes place every year and its organiser is Chovan Ltd. importer of the best Italian wines.
