Every four years, the United States experiences the inauguration of the president. It is a tradition that this historic moment falls on January 20th, and this year Donald Trump, who secured his place in the Oval Office again with his second oath, came back into the spotlight. While millions of people watched this event from the comfort of their homes, the luckier ones were there in person. We will now look at who shone and who, on the other hand, faced a wave of criticism.
The wife of re-elected President Donald Trump showed exactly what we are used to seeing from her over the years. Her outfits are always perfectly coordinated down to the detail and always look very stately and elegant. She wore a flattering blue double-breasted coat, which was made by local designer Adam Lippes. She completed the outfit with stylish pumps and a hat, which caused the most discussion. Hats are a traditional accessory for an inauguration. However, the size of the hat prevented people from seeing her eyes, giving the impression that she did not want people to be able to judge her expressions on such an important day for her husband. The hat also prevented a kiss from Donald Trump after taking the oath. Whether this was intentional or not, we do not know, but what we do know is that Melania Trump will continue to provide a clear example of how the First Lady should dress.
The first daughter Ivanka Trump matched her look with the serious color palette of Melania and chose an emerald green suit with a skirt and a matching hat. A slim waist and a fuller skirt, or an hourglass silhouette, seemed thoughtfully and intentionally. Her entire outfit was from the Dior workshop and reminded of his iconic pieces from the 50s, which then began a new era of the fashion industry.
The lawyer and wife of the newly elected Vice President JD Vance, Usha Vance, really surprised with her choice. So far, we could see on her models that could be described as everyday ones. It seems that her new role is also moving towards more distinctive high fashion choices. She chose a pink coat by Oscar de la Renta and skillfully tucked the scarf under the belt, which was a very nice detail. She could have chosen more suitable footwear for such a significant event. Winter boots didn't quite match.
Jill Biden wore a purple-blue outfit from head to toe. The color was not surprising, as this color was associated with the American administration over the last four years. The designer from whom she got the outfit didn't surprise either. It was never anyone other than Ralph Lauren, who was even recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden, which is the highest civilian decoration in the country, making him the first fashion designer to receive this accolishment.
Someone who definitely got attention was the Democratic Senator for Pennsylvania, John Fetterman. For the inauguration, he arrived in shorts, a stretched-out hoodie, and sneakers. This is undoubtedly the biggest faux pas of this festive day. Even though he is known for this style of dressing according to many, it certainly doesn't belong at such an event and he could have made an exception. But Donald Trump, who is a Republican, probably didn't care to stand for this.
The greatest attention was drawn by a group of technology magnates and their partners. While Mark Zuckerberg's wife, Priscilla Chan, chose a very modest and delicate outfit, Jeff Bezos' fiancee went a bit from a different angle. Lauren Sanchez arrived in a very interesting white coat, but when she took it off, the eyes of the men in the hall suddenly pointed in one direction, to her cleavage. She chose a white suit, under which she just wore a lace bra, which is inappropriate for this type of event and is rather offensive. She probably needed to show what she paid for. The main admirer was Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg, who stood by her side throughout the ceremony.
