Not even the coronavirus can stop the Czech Lion Awards! Fortunately, the award ceremony of the popular film awards in the Czech Republic wasn't canceled, contrary to many other events, and so we could enjoy watching the starts in gorgeous gowns, luxury jewelry as well as a couple of serious fashion don'ts. Naturally, we headed to the Czech Lion Awards equipped with our camera and interviewed the celebrities for you! Which fashion piece in their wardrobe do they like most and who is their fashion icon? The following video will answer not only these questions. And now it's time for Fashion Upstream to pass verdict!
Aňa was simply breathtaking in her corset dress from the Czech brand Chatty. She completed her look with Cartier jewelry and casual hairstyle. And what we dig most about her outfit? That in the time when many women choose to go under the knife and augmentation is pretty much a modern hobby, the Czech actress proves that even smaller breasts can look damn luxurious and put silicone D-cups to shame without even trying!
Actress Martha Issová also went for the brand Chatty and we were very happy with her choice! Who should be wearing bright pink, if not this bright-eyed brunette with a beautiful smile for whom the color works like a charm? Gorgeous!
We don't know what would have to happen for the beautiful Jana Plodková to make a fashion blunder. Maybe if she were all sweaty with fever in times of water outage? No, she'd make it work even then and look as stunning as always. In a romantic dress with a binding, completed with Gismondi jewelry, she was once again one of the best dressed ladies of the evening. Well, simple is usually the best.
Another guest at the awarding ceremony was Dagmar Havlová, who is as charming as ever despite the fact that she is approaching seventy. She looked breathtaking in her minimalist black dress with a train and distinctive sleeves.
Denisa Pfauserová also pleased us with her fashion choice. She opted for a sexy glittering model from designer Kamila Vodochodská. The dress suits her incredibly well. The only thing we're not so sure about are the rubber bands on her wrist. Wait a minute, it's not rubber bands? Who would have guessed! The next, we recommend leaving these on the bathroom mirror.
The winner of the Czech Lion Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role donned an asymmetrical LAFORMELA gown that intrigues us with its playful design. Her smooth hairstyle and minimal jewelry is an absolutely correct choice, given the massive clasps on the dress. Tereza gets a thumbs up from us.
Veronika Arichteva wore a dress from Beata Rajská with a sinfully deep décolletage, complemented by a fanny pack in sweet pink. And we're asking: "Why, Veronika, why would you do that?" Leave this trend to the catwalks and the streets, but don't bring it anywhere near the red carpet!
Let's be honest here, Jitka Čvančarová is definitely not thin as a rail. She has one thing going for her, though: usually, she unmistakeably chooses a dress with such a perfect cut that you hardly even notice it. Rather than that, you usually have a problem with taking your eyes off her décolletage. The award ceremony, at which she wore a beautiful green gown, was no exception. Despite the fact that her cleavage was almost non-existent, it still attracted everyone's eyes!
Actor Vladimir Polívka and his girlfriend looked as if they'd just made a side trip from the catwalk to flaunt their outfits in front of the photo wall before hurrying back. We praise both the tuxedo and the luxurious nude gown, which is the perfect embodiment of femininity. The underside of the dress just needs a little ironing and it deserves an A!
Tonya Graves wore a kimono and looked as sensational as she had a week ago at the Rudolfinum Ball, where she'd worn a bright green puffy gown with tulle to for a change. The exotic singer is not afraid to go all in, and that's a good thing. Courage and a distinctive style suits her.
When two poeple do the same, it's not the same... Both actress Erika Stárková and her sister Lenka, who works as a production manager, opted for a model from the Czech brand LEEDA. And while in Erika's case we really enjoy the dress and the unconventional concept is awesome, Lenka gives us the impression that she mistook the Czech Lion Awards for a cheap Prague disco. No, ouch, our eyes, this is a huge fail!!!
I like the fact that our Czech events such as the Czech Lion Film Awards ceremony are starting to show sophistication and refinement. Previously, it seemed to me like poverty dressed up as greatness, but this year I walked the red carpet myself and watched the celebrities from a close proximity. They were beautiful. One could see that they'd put a lot of thought in the choice of their outfits, at least most of them. Especially the nominees. Fashion designers and jewelers were competing who would lend what to whom and the result was astounding.
I was very pleasantly surprised by Jitka Čvančarová. This actress is famous for her lack of taste. Sadly, she has this czech-moravian body type that doesn't look great in every model. And while she claims she likes to dress well, she made a blunder many times and got chewed up by the critics. But this evening, she looked like a queen. She decided to hide her giant bust, opting for a very subtle cleavage, so that nobody could be provoked or aroused by it. For the first time, I didn't feel like she wanted to suffocate me. The green look great on her and the cut was flattering. For being nominated for a role where she was either naked or in a sack of potatoes...
Think of it what you will, but personally, I don't like Aňa Geislerová. Neither as a person nor as an actress. She has always been rude and arrogant to journalists, and she always plays the same type of women with the same expression, be it a positive or a negative character. However... There must have been some sun flares on Saturday night, because Aňa was glowing. She laughed. Moreover, she gave interviews and answered even the most intrusive questions without humiliating the editor. Her dress was beautiful; she can afford to wear such models with her slim figure. If I were her, I might have visited a tanning studio a few times prior to the gala evening, but she's probably the type who doesn't tan well. Geislerová was the last to enter the hall, since she kept giving interviews. When I asked my colleague how was it possible that she was so accommodating, I received an adequate answer: "She has Cartier jewelry, she needs to advertise it properly and show it off everywhere she can. That's why."
Even so, I applaud Aňa, and in the spirit of keeping the mental health of all journalists intact, I hope that they'll give her jewelry more often, even for ordinary launch parties and the like.
Zuzana Stivínová must have literally bolted up the red carpet stairs. When she sprinted into the foyer, I was completely startled. Such energy, such determination! I can see now why clothes make the man. Yes, she did look great overall, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was going to be reprimanded. Simply put, I feared her like I'd feared my math teacher in the seventh grade...
Tonička is great, a total ray of sun. And always so original! There's nothing to dislike. Her dress matched the glasses, which she has a gazzilion of at home. The singer, of course, was not among the nominees, but she came to support her friends and colleagues. One could see that she was enjoying the evening and the atmosphere. When someone gives off such positive vibes, it doesn't really matter what they're wearing.
