The eccentric SS19 collection by Maison Margiela embodies a new sexuality
John Galliano breaks the limits
John Galliano, a British-Spanish designer and creative director of the Maison Margiela brand, abandoned street-wear and casual elegance when creating the newest SS19 collection. The designer exceeded his limits once again and has come up with something never seen before – with bold models made from vinyl and deluxe leather, which represent a new sexuality and sensuality.

Vinyl trousers and corsets represent a new sensuality
The glossy slim vinyl trousers, which appeared on the runway in several colour versions – light pink, lush red, black, cream or pastel blue – undoubtedly garnered the most attention. And a significant element of the deluxe SS19 collection was the corset, which was intended to represent a new sexuality along with the short shorts, tight shirts and lady’s jewellery.
SS19? That means unique kimonos
Vinyl knee-high boots, embroidered cowboy boots, deluxe kimonos and bold models made from transparent fabrics also appeared on the runway as well as these outfits. When creating the SS19 collection John Galliano chose silk, cotton, organza, satin or bouclé, as well as vinyl and leather.
Extravagance vs. luxurious elegance
Even though most of SS19 is devoted to eccentric and innovative models, you will also be able to find some more formal items in it, including deluxe suits, elegant coats or stylish jackets.
Real eccentricity
We certainly also noticed the models themselves, who appeared on the runway under the direction of John Galliano. Some of them shocked viewers with their slim bodies and the circumference of their thighs, which many female models would envy. As you can see, if you want to be eccentric, then do it properly, from head to toe!

The Maison Margiela SS19 collection is truly scary...
Or to put it another way, all the hair on my body rose when I saw this collection. Wow, this is really a big step away from the well-travelled path by John Galliano. As you can see from the first few minutes, the era of his biggest fame at Christian Dior is well and truly behind us!
The first thing that horrified me was the models themselves. Possibly because they don’t even look like people, but rather like some sort of mutants at a demonstration for human rights. The clothing, which looked like it came from a shop for mass murderers, was truly terrifying. Vinyl trousers, shorts or even a bib and brace, which looked ideal for this year’s fish harvest of the Rožmberk Pond at first glance: we are certain none of you would want these!
The entire thing was crowned by a model reminding us of a practically naked priest with an enormous steel cross around his neck. Did Galliano intend to insult the church? He may have forgotten that his friend Madonna has done this a million times before, about thirty years ago! So the church hardly noticed this....And as even the simplest person would say. “A repeated joke is no longer funny.....and no one is INTERESTED”.
