Donald John Trump only has a few dozen hours left as the 45th President of the USA. According to several sources, the outgoing president is preparing to pardon or commute the sentences of more than 100 people on Tuesday. It's not expected that the issued pardons will include Trump himself or any member of his family. What is certain, however, is that he will pardon some of his political allies and sympathizers. Rumour has it that one of the pardons will go to his personal attorney Rudy Guiliani. Many people have left Trump's administration after the riots in the Capitol, and it's proving to be quite difficult for him and the people has left to see things through in the office.

"There are a lot of people urging the president to pardon folks who participated in defiling the Capitol, the rioters. But to seek a pardon of these people would be wrong,"

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said for FOX News.

According to the State Institute of Public Health (SZÚ), a more contagious mutation of coronavirus, referred to as the British strain, might have infected up to ten people in the Czech Republic so far. That's how many samples from PCR tests are being examined by the National Reference Laboratory. The "British strain" of coronavirus is not a bigger risk for the infected person, but it's a big scarecrow for the healthcare system. Data analyst Petr Ludwig was one of the people who warned against a similar scenario on social networks yesterday. The strain is much more contagious, which means it pushes up the R number and overwhelms hospitals. That's exactly what has been happening in recent weeks in the UK, where the mutation was first discovered. In our country, the spread of this variant of COVID-19 could mean a slowdown in the positive development, within which the DOG system has remained below 75 points (4th level) for the fourth day in a row. On top of that, the reference number has been declining for several days in a row. Pharmaceutical companies have long stated that their vaccines should also be effective against this coronavirus mutation.

More than 70 professional tennis players are confined to their hotel rooms in Melbourne under strict quarantine. Many of them claim that they would never have traveled to Australia if they had known something like this could happen. All of it was caused by a number of positive coronavirus tests in people who accompanied the tennis players on board when traveling to the tournament. Dozens of players won't be able to train properly for the grand slam tournament. The Australian Open starts on February 8. According to the organizers, there is at least one tennis player and one coach among the infected. Victoria Azarenka, Sloane Stephens, or Kei Nishikori and other tennis stars are stuck in the strict hotel quarantine for the following days.

It looks as if the German carmaker BMW has declared war on Tesla's position for the coming years. In 2020, it sold more than 190,000 electric cars and hybrids, which represents an almost one-third year-on-year growth. Within Europe, electric cars and hybrids already account for 15 percent of the company's total sales. For this year, it wants to at least double the production and catch up with the company of the richest man in the world, Elon Musk. His Tesla sent half a million electric cars to the market last year.

BMW celebrates its 105th birthday this year and currently has 13 different electrified vehicles on offer. It plans to double this number by 2023. At present, more and more countries in the world are striving for a total ban on the production of new vehicles using fossil fuels by 2030. Car manufacturers should therefore make sure to focus on electromobility.

Thirty-nine-year-old singer Justin Timberlake and actress Jessica Biel, one year his junior, surprised the public last summer by announcing the birth of their second son. In April 2015, Jessica had given birth to their first-born offspring, Silas Randall Timberlake. The shocking thing about the second addition to their family was that the public had no idea about the famous actress's pregnancy. Of course, the coronavirus epidemic also contributed to this, as virtually all social events were canceled. Justin revealed the name of his second son after more than half a year, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He's called Phineas.

"And he's awesome and he's so cute and nobody's sleeping. But we're thrilled. We're thrilled and couldn't be happier. Very grateful. It's a lot of fun. Silas is excited,"

Justin said to Ellen, who was one of the few people outside the family circle to know about Jessica Biel's pregnancy.

That's all from us this morning. We wish you to step into the new work week with your right foot. And don't overdo it! Remember the words of the French writer Honoré De Balzac:

"The more you work, the less you love."
