The Czechs have recently been very interested in goods from overseas, due to which the cost of shipping has been constantly rising and there aren't enough large containers. Czech retailers feel this problem keenly, as they struggle with delivery delays and price settings. Earlier last year, maritime traffic between Asia and Europe subsided due to the coronavirus pandemic. There was a great reduction in traffic and the containers remained in the ports of destination countries, i.e. in Europe or the USA. According to estimates, the turnover of container transport decreased by 4 to 5% overall last year. But things picked up in the second half of the year, as interest in goods began to grow again. However, China had nothing to load up and the situation began to peak at the end of the year.
Last year, it cost about 20,000 crowns to send a 20-foot container by sea from northern Europe to China. For a container with a length of 40 ft, it was about 53,800 crowns. From China to Europe, the price was about a third higher. But that changed at the beginning of this year. Now, more than 258 thousand crowns are required for a 20-foot container and approximately 40 thousand more for a container with a length of 40 ft.
On Sunday, Pope Francis came down on military leaders in Myanmar following the coup that took place there last week. In his speech, Francis said that he was following the situation in Myanmar with deep concern and asked the leaders to serve the common good and strive for democratic harmony.
"In this very delicate moment, I want to again assure my spiritual closeness, my prayers and my solidarity with the people of Myanmar,” he said. “I pray that those in positions of responsibility in the country show sincere willingness to serve the common good, promoting social justice and national stability for a harmonious and democratic co-existence,"
the pope said in his speech. Tens of thousands of people rallied across Myanmar on Sunday to denounce the Feb. 1 coup and demand the release of elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi, in the biggest protests since the 2007 Saffron Revolution that helped lead to democratic reforms.
Miley Cyrus opened the grand finale of the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida, with a live performance. She pulled off a remix of the 1981 song "Mickey" by Toni Basil on stage, but instead of "Hey Mickey", she sang "Hey Miley". The singer included a number of songs from her latest album Plastic Hearts, which she'd released last year, in her show. And she definitely didn't go on stage underdressed. Miley donned two pink-black outfits inspired by football, but her version boasted a ton of sequins.
The Overseas American Football League was dominated by Tampa Bay for the second time in history. The team defeating Kansas, led by legendary quarterback Tom Tommy, 31:9. Tampa's amazing defence didn't allow the rivals a single touchdown. Brady won the seventh Super Bowl in his career and was named the most useful player for the fifth time.
Ali Sadpara from Pakistan, along with John Snorri of Iceland and Juan Pablo Mohr of Chile, disappeared over the weekend while climbing K2. The world's second-highest mountain is considered the deadliest and most difficult to climb of all. About one in five people who try to do so die in the process.
"The base camp received no signals from Sadpara and his foreign companions after 8,000 metres… A search is on and let’s pray for their safe return home,"
said Karrar Haideri of the Pakistan Alpine Club. Sadpara is a well-known and celebrated climber who has successfully braved eight of the highest mountains in the world. However, the latest GPS reading received from his colleague John Snorri showed that the GPS batteries were almost empty.
Sadpar's son Sajid also participated in the climb, but he soon turned back after encountering a technical problem with his oxygen bomb. He told the press that he had last seen his father early on Friday morning and doubted he was still alive. Helicopters have been looking for the climbers for the last several days, but due to unfavourable weather and high altitude, the rescuers are only able to be out for an hour.
Vietnam's first carmaker, Vinfast, said that it had obtained permission to test autonomous vehicles on public streets in California. For a company to commercialize its electric vehicles in the U.S. market, approval by the California Vehicle Administration is required.
So far, Vinfast has developed three models with autonomous functions, stating that two of these models would be sold in the US, Canada and Europe markets from 2022. Last year, as part of its international expansion efforts, the company purchased the GM Langen Lang Lang test centre in Australia following an effort to open a research and development centre in Melbourne.
