Yesterday, Joe Biden became the 46th President of the United States. Kamala Harris is the first female US vice president in history. Although previous President Donald Trump didn't attend the inauguration, Biden admitted the existence of a letter that Trump had supposedly written to him before his departure from Washington.

The Czech carmaker achieved great success in the coronavirus year 2020, when it also happened to celebrate its 115th birthday. In the sales ranking of so-called station wagons (passenger cars with a large luggage compartment), its Škoda Octavia took first place with more than 120,000 pieces sold. The Škoda Superb Combi also made it to the top ten bestselling station wagons, along with representatives of the Volkswagen, Ford, Audi and BMW brands. However, the popularity of Combi cars keeps declining and SUVs (sport utility vehicles) are increasingly coming to the fore.

The American city with a population of nearly 8.5 million plans large investments in the range of tens of billions of dollars, despite the fact that we are living in the coronavirus age. What can the inhabitants of the largest American city look forward to? For example, the transformation of the Hudson River embankment and the improvement of the local park with the addition of hiking and biking trails. A major expansion of the Jacob K Javits Congress Center by more than one hundred thousand square meters, headed by the LendLease Turner design consortium, is already underway and should be completed this spring. Further development of the Penn Station is also planned. Major renovation works under the name Empire Station Complex are planned on the original building from 1910 as well as on newer parts. The station should be expanded by another eight train tracks. Two new westbound train tunnels should be built under the Hudson River in the coming years. A sad fate awaits the aging building of the Port Authority bus terminal. It is to be demolished and completely replaced by a new one.

The popular series about the Shellby family, who forms the infamous gang called Peaky Blinders, should be brought to a close with a pompous dot - a movie. Since its launch in 2013, the highly successful British gangster saga by Steven Knight has enjoyed great interest from TV show fans around the world. During its five series, Peaky Blinders has offered 30 roughly an hour long episodes, featuring Hollywood stars such as Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill and Helen McCrory. Fans were devastated when the news of the cancellation of the originally planned 7th series dropped, mourning the fact that the series would end with the sixth series. However, the creator of the whole saga has recently had more optimistic news to shre: he spoke about a magnificent end for the story.
"Covid changed our plans. But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen."
At the turn of the millennium, literally the whole world lived through the Pokémon phenomenon. In the summer of 2016, the mobile game Pokémon GO restored this animated world to its former glory. Since then, these feisty monsters have been around again. The Pokémon card game has also gained in popularity. In recent months, we could often read about high sales of unique cards from the beginning of this game. But now a record has appeared that will take many breaths away. Heritage Auctions has put a very rare hologram card with the Pokémon Blastois up for auction. It's one of the two existing copies and was used for presentation purposes with Nintendo for approval to go into printing in English. It was created in 1998, two years after the first launch of Pokémon, and contains a lot of interesting details that never made it into the card game in the end, such as sharp corners or a special font. The card was illustrated by the developer of the main characters of the Pokémon world, Ken Sugimori. You can buy it for an astronomical 468,000 US dollars (10.07 million Czech crowns).
